I think this is a great example of why most caddies aren't worth 10%. The guy goes and wins with a random dude.

Then you aren’t paying attention. How would they afford to do the job if they didn’t get 10%? Players should just hire local caddies (and a lot do for just that reason) if they don’t want a full time caddie.
