Ok, call me crazy but here is what I think could be a good change. Steve very much needs some in game help but more so he need's a bad cop as he is the good cop. Discipline seems to have always been a problem.

This probably has 0.1% chance of happening but bring in our old pal Larry Eustachy as an assisstant. The guy has a ton of coaching experience, had some of our best teams ever, and well he does know a little about running a hard practice.
Isn't Hobbs supposed to be that guy?

Good question. It will be very interesting see what changes Prohm makes with his bench staff at the end of the year. I know these guys are long time friends, but CSP needs to realize his job is on the line. At least I hope JP is telling him that.

In a tiny market where articles/new rely on behind the scenes info who is going to be the one to piss off their access pass?

ISU can't control the pre/post game articles but they can shut down access to anything else real quick.

Tough spot to be in.
You carefully avoided it, but you really mean Pollard. He does not like criticism of his coaches or programs. And he holds grudges, Call it what it is.

I think he is just out of position and it messed him up in the head. No clue why they ever thought he could guard the 4. They likely wanted to give those older, proven guys every opportunity in the world to play and have success but it has been an unmitigated disaster.
Seems like this was the plan with Jacobson all off-season as well.

I don't think it's fair to lump all the players into the "bench me and I'll leave". Terrance Lewis has stuck it out, and is now seeing his committment pay off. Conditt, same thing. Is there any doubt George should be starting over Jacobson at this point? But he's not only staying with the program, he's an obvious vocal leader.

Tyrese, can't say enough about him. As far as the rest, if they leave because they are benched, then we didn't need them anyway. Whether we win or not.

I'd say Solomon Young staying with it is very commendible.

Totally agree. The part to watch will be if coach realizes it and sits Mike or puts him back at the 5 (which I think would be a bad idea, need more Conditt)

If it was only one game, then we are all being ridiculous. Some of us see a serious trend with potential of continuing through next year. The fear is no change. Same coach, same staff, same lineup, same offense, ... I'm not sure most know how to fix it, but the fanbase loves ISU and hates seeing it deteriorate.

I will be getting my thoughts out tomorrow night on the radio show.

Do you see the 'time out after a made bucket' thing coming into the discussion?

Has always seemed like an odd thing to do in something like basketball where rhythm is a big deal, especially in a place like Hilton that's always waiting for the momentum to shift.

Yeah, that's completely nonsensical to me as well, and Prohm needs to answer for that.

I was following the game on my ESPN app last night and I almost did a double take when I saw we took a timeout after Bolton's three.

That tactic is questionable on the road, and completely nonsensical at home.

Opposing coaches probably send Prohm Christmas gifts for those free momentum killing TOs.

I can't find the story right now, but I recall him being quoted as he likes to take timeouts after made baskets so he can build up confidence or something to that effect. Conversely I think he said he doesn't take them as often in situations where we aren't playing well so people don't come to the bench with low confidence.

I thought of that when I read - either in Hines' story or message board discussion surrounding that story - that Prohm is tough in practice but doesn't like to get too negative with players during games to keep their confidence high.

And while I hate to play amateur sports psychologist, that seems...off to me. Your whole season shouldn't be a never-ending quest to reinforce confidence. You breed confidence by putting your guys in a position to succeed, and by them succeeding.
