Inside Out (movie)
Has anyone seen this movie with their family yet? Pixar really did a fantastic job once again. It's such an interesting movie that brings out so many emotions. My girlfriend and I went with her two children (ages 10 and 8). I was amazed at the conversations after the movie got out and how it invoked so many teachable moments.
I had no idea what the movie was going to be about when we went in. Throughout the show I was entertained by watching the faces of the kids. The vibe of the movie was almost old school in that family always sticks together, hugs, etc. What made this interesting for me is my girlfriend is (obviously) divorced and it made me wonder what was going through their minds during the show. How much do kids know about real life situations and how do they process it? In our case, do they know just how bad their father is (harassment, threatening, narcissism, lying, etc) but still love dad because he's dad? Are they storing away feelings that will come out later? Are they seeing the bright side in that they now have a new set of family and friends that love them? What will this do to their core memories down the road? Crazy.
