Inflexibility in scheduling

Are we supposed to make teams change their schedule if their opponent is scheduled to play a contender later? That could really mess things up.

How does flipping Baylor's opponent this Saturday with December 12th mess things up?

Teams preparing, stadium availability, fans plans, ref plans, teams reservations such as bus, planes, hotels and meals. Teams don’t plan their game the week of from scratch. Maybe we should just decide on Monday who plays who according to who is 1-10 in the conference.

I had to book flights and hotels for two weekends for the Big 12 Championship game because of this situation.

Most of your explanation is irrelevant this year.

So you got hosed because they didn't flip the game and pushed back the championship game. Interesting.

Who said anything about being hosed? I'll be able to cancel the reservations I don't use. It is more a matter of not being able to plan for the weekend (and plan something else for the other weekend). At this point, I'm expecting the Big 12 Championship game to be pushed back a week. Yet it would be nice to know a month out about which weekend the game will actually be played. Alas, not in a Covid season.

Gotta ask, why in the hell wouldn't the stadium be available?

You never know what is scheduled. When I worked at the ISC when in college, there was not an open weekend for any venue. There was something always scheduled. Football stadiums gets camps, concerts, conventions, a few may still double with soccer. Different stadiums are used in different ways.
Not sure why your rear is so chaffed that the championship is pushed back a week due to this. Most of it is due to TV rights. They decide 2 weeks in advance. Doing it now guarantees that it isn’t shown anywhere and the conference loses good money.

You really think they're going to let fans into the championship game? I'll be surprised if the Big12 allows fans in stadiums in two weeks.
