In-state FB recruiting

I have to respectfully, but completely disagree, DJK. Stoops has well known Iowa ties, but there'd be no reason for him other than that to leave Oklahoma. He is at one of the top 5 programs in the country, he makes bank, and there's just no feasible reason for him to leave. The only possible way I think we'd see him as coach of the Hawks is if he got busted for violations at Oklahoma, and Ferentz was no longer coaching the Hawks. Iowa might be willing to roll the dice on him in that case. Other than that I'd say there is a 0% chance of him being the head coach at Iowa.

Ditka and Belichick never played and coached at Iowa, so your reply doesn't really make any sense.
 
The idea of Stoops leaving OU to come coach at Iowa is the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a hawkeye and that is saying something.

Nobody can judge emotion when it comes to something like this. Okie is a cushy job and nobody rational would ever leave there for Iowa. Unfortunately for prognosticators emotional decision making and rational decision making aren't the same. Stoops' dad was buried wearing an Iowa jersey and Bob said in an article not too long ago he has frequented the U of I clinics for an ailment for one of his children. He also said that he will never allow Okie to schedule Iowa in a non-con game because he has too many mixed emotions about playing Iowa. More than likely the situation will probably never present itself anyway but I would think the decision would be less than cut and dry.

This is how delusional some fans of Iowa are. Right here. You actually think that Bob Stoops would leave Oklahoma, a program with a long string of success equal to or greater than the Hawkeyes finest achievement, for Iowa, a school who may play in a BCS bowl now and again but have a 7-6 or so year once every five years? Bielma, maybe, Stoops, no. Not now not never.

In essence I pretty much agree. Lets say Ferentz unexpectedly retires next year. Stoops would be one of the first guys Barta would call. The chances Stoops would say yes are minimal at best, but I think he would have to ponder it for a minute just because of his past before saying no. He was in the thick of being hired back in 1999, so you know that there is still some emotional connection between him and Iowa.

Stoops will coach in the NFL before he would go to iowa. IF he falls on his face like so many other college coaches who try this, and iowa has a job opening, then he might take the job. But, if this is what happens, he will have many better offers than iowa.

Bielema would seem more willing to take the job, but he has a pretty good thing going at UW. It would seem more of a lateral move. Neither program is close to being an elite national type program, they are about the same. It would probably come down to $$$ and if bielema wanted to go back to ic.

Are you serious with this?

He was a ******* defensive coordinator in 1999. Now he has played in 3 NC games, and won one. His resume is way beyond iowa now.

I am sure that he will give the NFL a shot at some point. If that doesn't work, and his options are limited, I am sure that he would take the iowa job then. BUT, there will be bigger jobs available than that, if he became another casualty of the NFL.

You are one of those people that think that iowa is a national progam too, don't you?
 
Bob Stoops has turned down Florida on three seperate occasions, Notre Dame twice, The Atlanta Falcons & KC Chiefs one each... I dont think he was holding out for Iowa

He isn't leaving Oklahoma for Iowa in this life or the next...

And during the interview the UI admin busted his balls over Florida's (Spurrier's) ****ty graduation rate which Bob had nothing to do with. Apart from the myriad obvious reasons Stoops will never take the Iowa job is the fact that UI already blew their shot.

Now, if it's not too much trouble could we stop feeding the Iowa trolls and keep this thread about ISU recruiting? I doubt we offer Malloy, anyone disagree?

I don't think we will either. We are probably looking at him as a CB, and I think our staff is probably pretty confident they'll get some good ones (that've played the position before) with the playing time pitch we can offer. Maybe if Malloy comes back for another camp (if we have one), or if he impresses at a 7-on-7 camp. It is encouraging that he didn't jump right away at the Iowa offer.

The only way Iowa gets Stoops is if he bails one step ahead of the OU posse. Obviously that isn't happening next year but in three or five years? It's certainly possible but not what I would call likely. Neither is Bielema for that matter.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming

I like Malloy, I just can't pin down what position he would play. I don't think that he's fast enough or shifty enough for WR. And it sounds like DB is a totally foreign concept to him. I tend to think that he's a RB or nothing and ISU already has its RB. Any other RBs they bring in would probably be the small shifty type. So in a roundabout way, no, I don't think ISU offers unless Barkley Hill decommits.

To be fair, I think most of the Big 10 is very Aggy-like so you can't really single Iowa out.

I think Malloy could play safety pretty well. He's atleast on par with Cotton athlete wise. Maybe with the thinking of Knott being a safety they want a faster cover safety to pair with him?

one last question...
Why do most Iowa Fans hate Beilma? Was it something he said or did? Or are poeple just ****** because he played at Iowa, has a tigerhawk tatoo, and now he's coaching Wisconsin? What's the deal?

The guy is kind of a tool. Still, I don't think they hate him enough to never want him to coach for Iowa again. He's a pretty good recruiter, even though it's a running joke among Iowa fans that whenever Iowa offers a recruit that isn't nationally known, a Wisconsin offer won't be far behind.
