This is why they'd be allowed to still transfer, take 6-8 credits over the summer (or whatever full-time over the summer equates to) and be eligible for the Fall. I'm saying this could be a rule change.

How is allowing players to transfer right away vs after a semester something that's "scared, fear mongering nonsense"? Seems like you're just gaslighting. This idea allows better player moment, allows players to move on vs having to stay at school they're leaving anyways.
Transfers don't just get up and leave in the middle of the semester.... they come in the summer. We've had mid year guys that enrolled in January, I think McKay (JuCo I know) was the last but could be misremembering
Right, McKay did come at semester and had to sit a whole year.
This is more about Football. They players will have briefly started Spring classes by the time they can transfer programs.
The free transfer rule does not allow you to play for 2 teams in the same season. So as of right now, it is not allowed.
And a few years ago, we didn't pay players. Things changed when they got challenged. On what basis would that rule stand up if challenged?
Well, you asked if there was a rule that prohibited it. The answer currently is yes. I thought it was because of classes, but I couldn’t find that definitively, but it is certainly a rule as of now. Obviously future legislation could change that, there is no way of knowing.
Transfer rules should be straightforward: each player is allowed 1 transfer for any reason. A player can transfer if their head coach leaves. A player can transfer to be within 100 miles of their home in the event of a family hardship. All other transfer would require the player to lose a year of eligibility

What? If a kid commits to a coach and the coach goes elsewhere, why couldn't the kid follow that coach he committed to? There definitely needs to be some new rules and restrictions put in place, but this should not be one of them.
He can follow him, but he needs to sit out a year. What happened with Indiana hiring the JMU football coach and taking enough players to deplete JMU and turn around IU instantly is just wrong. That is what needs to be avoiced. So, the kid can transfer to any other school without sitting or follow his coach and sit for one year (OMG, the *horror!*). @demoncore1031

Agree to disgree, I guess. I don't like the way things are now but if I committed to a coach, I would want to be able to go to another school with him if I wanted to. IMO, all players should get ONE free transfer without sitting out a year.
You can go to the school with him. You just have to sit a year (traditional old transfer rule). However, I have no problem with agreeing to disagree.

There should also be a limit on how much a school can spend in NIL, and how much an individual athlete can make per year. Seeing Caleb Williams making more money his senior year than a QB that took his team to a Super Bowl (Purdy) is completely ridiculous. Maybe make $100,000 the max that a player can make? That is A LOT of money for a college student, and they still get a free education.
I think players can lose some of their passion for the game and for their school when they are getting paid a lot.
You are never going to be able to take away the player transferring at least once and being able to play the next season without sitting out. The courts will never go for it, but if you say, they get one transfer, or a 2nd because the coach leaves or family hardship, you could get something like that passed.
With coaches being able to leave a school and coach the next season, you have to give the players the opportunity to do it, at least once if they want.
