It’s corny and sounds forced and seems to deflate the crowd afterwards.

However, love the kill kill kill chant. I hope it carries over to football on 3rd downs.
I’ve always preferred “Crush, Kill, Destroy”. But I’ve also found it somewhat difficult to get the people sitting in our area to follow my lead. Some people find it’s a bit too much.

Cyclones are powerful, I guess? I always thought it was pretty lame, too.

That was a common chant at the hockey arena in the early 90s. Then again I was there when the crowd and opposing team was fighting over the top of the glass.
OMG the old hockey arena games got wild! They served beer too which made it even more fun to go. Loved the "our goalies great, your goalie suck s*!" Every time ISU scored a goal. There were several other vulgar chants I don't quite remember but our fans sure were creative.

Why don't we get rid of Clone Cones while we're at it?

I normally dislike any chant that uses profanity, but the "F#$k Bohannon" was classic. I hope they do it everytime Iowa is in town.

My all-time favorite is "Sit down Norm"

I think that was an instance where the f word might not have gone to far and been appropriate

Hilton did the same thing to McGreary in 2013 although I'm not sure what he did to deserve it. He was a legit player and I don't recall any hollow antics.

During the "F$%@ Bohannon" game, my 13 year old step-daughter asked me why they were saying that. During a timeout, I gave her a brief history (including "the shoes" story, the "fight" story, and his general reputation as a jerk dating back to his days at Linn-Mar). She replied "Linn-Mar! Bohannon went to Linn-Mar! That's all I needed to know. I hate him!"

Awesome!

Strong Agree.
Thank you for the hand. Everybody is pushing a brother down. The song is weird. It makes Iowans look weird. When it is played during a bball game we look stupid.

Is "Cyclone Power" the cheer that was basically "taught" to the fans before a football game and we were told this was going to become a tradition? Or am I misremembering? Either way...the best traditions are organic...no need to invent a tradition!
You are correct

I seem to recall Jeff Johnson out at the 50 yard line introducing the chant... and then he did that for every pregame for a few years it seemed like.

Let me really upperdecker this post with this take:

I...O..W...A...

Is really solid when done right, especially when it's extended through an entire drive.

In basketball the ominous Phog Allen chant is great, but don't hear it as much these days.
