Hy-Vee Big 4 Classic Ending

Truer words never spoken. Put Pemsl and Kriener (who were both down to UNI and Iowa) on UNIs roster to go with Pickford, Green and Brown and UNI wins the Valley this year.

I say this as about as diehard of a UNI fan that exists but the Golden Era of UNI Athletics is over. Bad AD hire (Dannen) and unrealistic budget expectations (compared to our peers) pulled all the momentum out of our programs and we're a mid-level Valley team for the foreseeable future. UNI is never again going to reach the heights of the 07-16 period.

As far as the in-state games, I really hope that two or three years from now everybody looks back and realizes how special and unique those games were and whether we go to a 2 for 1 setup or some kind of Ames/IC neutral set up or whatever. I'm not naive enough to think that the true H-H are ever coming back.

I agree with everything you said but honestly, I've never found the UNI or Drake games "special." It's a golden opportunity for the Panthers and Dogs to take a swing at the big boys but that's about it.

Beat me to it. I can't recall Iowa State ever playing well in the dome. That was just a god awful setup.

I went to a couple games there, we always just got slaughtered. The last time they played in the dome I think I left at halftime because we were down like 20 or something ridiculous.

Drake is a private school. Neither Iowa, nor Iowa State owe them a thing. I would schedule them just like Southern. If there is an opening fine, but only at Hilton.

For UNI they are a fellow Regent school. I do believe both Iowa and Iowa State have an obligation to play them. Maybe alternate who plays them every year. And pay them double what schools like Southern get. That is the least we can do if we are not giving UNI a home game.

I disagreed because we don't have a obligation to UNI.

It's simple, if UNI and Drake want to play us then they come to Hilton. If they don't want to come to Hilton then who cares we will play a different school.

Or at least to a 2 for 1. Both MVC schools blame the other 2 for messing this up but they also refuse to give anything up. You don't see UNI going to whatever DII school they play. UNI struggles to schedule good teams, maybe because they think they don't have to give a little.

Between the Big 12 being one of the toughest conference slates every year and the fact the Iowa State plays in a holiday tournament every year there is no reason for Iowa State to play or @UNI. We gain absolutely nothing with a 2 for 1.

Ace reporter Randy P ask CSP about this in today’s press conference, but he couldn’t remember was it was called. Jerk

No thanks on UNI or Drake unless they come to Hilton, period. Playing an early road contest at either of those places is too big of a risk for young or new teams to slip up. Drake and UNI has these games with Iowa and Iowa State circled at the beginning of the year. Then by the end of the year if we lose, you are looking at a sub 150-200 ranked loss.

Our team with Royce was a hell of a team come tourney time. Take away the Drake and UNI losses and they don’t face one of the best college teams of all time and likely make a much deeper run with a better seeding.

I was at that Drake game and had pretty much blocked it out of my memory until now, so thanks for that

Yeah, its kind of weird, but honestly, the Knapp Center is not that bad of an arena for a team like Drake. For their size schools, both Drake and UNI have great places to play when compared to their peers.

I've never been enamored by the Knapp Center, but UNI's set up is really nice for a school it's size.

I see that ISU-Drake is on MC22. Nah, this shouldn't end. MC22 is a destination channel for all major basketball programs and we are already there!
