Hunter Dekkers Concerns?

What is the record number of handoffs in a season for an ISU QB? I’m worried about it being eclipsed next season. I don’t trust Manning/CMC with a green QB.

I would say just enjoy the season. Dekkers has all the tools in the world and should be damn good.

This is the thing that has me very optimistic. Would Xavier Hutchinson come back if he didn't have a ton of confidence in dekkers? He saw him in practice every day last year. I think he's excited at the arm talent.

and X has been the guy giving Dekkers the most praise in interviews

But if you really listened to the coaches in preseasons, you'd have believed going into last year we had our entire 3-deep OL as future NFL starters. How'd that turn out?

Injuries. We will see. I think this line will be good, but I'm not predicting it. Simmons and Miller look to have real potential.

There's a difference in having confidence and just assuming things will be flying.

There's talent there and I'm actually more excited for this season than last as growth is more fun to watch vs. stagnation.

Last year Dekkers would have probably started if it hadn't been for a 4 year starter in Purdy.

He outshined Purdy all year.

ISU's Oline was also about as good as I can remember in the Fiesta Bowl.

I could see this being our best team under CMC. If the offensive line is good this team could be a sleeper to win the Big 12.

sounds like he doesn't have confidence they will be good in September, which is completely reasonable given how bad we have been the first couple of games every year since CMC got here. Good seasons, but gosh if they could just figure out September they would have been great seasons.

For all this “o-line was bad last year” talk, they most certainly didn’t cost us the Iowa, Baylor, WVU, or Tech games. Online performs exactly as they did last year but we go 11-1 and no one is complaining about it.

The defense allowing two bad QBs to look like all Americans in the WVU and Tech games were much worse performances by a group that was supposed to be a strength, in my opinion.

The defense was leaky all year especially on the back end.

Iirc WV and Tech's defensibe front had ISU pretty screwed up in front.

I was impressed with Tech's D line whenever watching them fwiw.
