In fairness to AD's....AD's don't coach, recruit, and ultimatley don't make the final hiring decisions....the big money boosters do.....such as Nebraska...clean the cupboard with the coaches first.....AD's next.....#scapegoat......

Some of your points are valid but I just have to look at one thing -

ISU athletic department under BVD vs under JP

AD can make considerable difference

It seems to me that it comes down the culture they instill

If the university in question, wants a higher level of competiveness, then get to the root source of the problem and fire the coach or coaches.....then the AD.....Riley (like a lot of other coaches around the nation) must be a favorite amongst boosters.....or ONE booster in particular.....

How many BB coaches and Wrestling coaches and FB coaches has Pollard hired....enough said.....coaches go first.....then AD if history starts repeating itself....

The single most important decision any AD at the P5 level makes revolves around the football coach.

Thankfully we got that one right.

What are we ranting bout today?

There's one I know who fired two women, 1 coach & 1 administrator in the athletic department, and was found to have done so in a discriminatory way due to gender & sexual orientation. And this MF still has his job. How does that ******* work?
