Before the show he took the time to meet with a disabled teen fan who had apparently written to him. He tried to make it a genuine encounter instead of the star 'meet and greet' you generally see.Jealous.
I watch his clips and it's kind of a cliche to say that what he was saying is still relevant, but his bits about over consumption, materialism, etc. were/are truly spot on.
I had to think at the time: "I hope his mother (who was with him that night) knows what her son is about to see." As you know Carlin's live shows were anything but G rated.
