So I have lived though so many terrible seasons (born 1966 and ISU graduate in 1988). My wife and I were chatting about how an 8-win season would have felt when we were seniors in 1987 (3-8 season for football). Yet we both feel excited and disappointed with this year's 8-4 team. Should we feel 8-4 is the floor or is 8-4 an acceptable season with a 10-2 season once every five years or so about all we can ever expect at ISU? By the way, I fully applaud this year's team on eight wins.

I refuse to be a person that is upset with 8 wins. Life is too ******* short.

And you know what is a good thing? I look at this year and think that we could have had 10 wins with 1 kicker injury and not 2. But I don't look at it like it was our one chance to get to 10 wins. I have enough faith in this program that I think we didn't miss out on some once in a lifetime opportunity.

What a kick to the nads that Colorado loss is. Much different feeling playing for 10 wins than 9.
WIn that and it's a great season, every B12 9-3 or better team is ranked. ASU was 20 but lost their last game to have 4th loss, probably drop out now.

I've seen teams bottom out after a rough month so for them to come together and get 8, especially considering the injuries, is great.

Yeah the UC and CU games were bad but in the sports matrix, if ISU pulls those out, things tend to even out to drop two other games.

Appreciate the post and perspective. Haven't been a fan for quite as long but remember the really bad.

I think 7/8 wins is the expectation for ISU as that's been a very common result over the last ten seasons.

Sprinkle in really good bowl games, CCG appearances, maybe CFP appearance here and there and I'm not sure what anyone can complain about on the whole.

Not suggesting we can't aim higher...but 8 wins is certainly something we fans should feel good about!
