How concerned should we be?

Jok shoots 50 times to get 27 points - not a team player

You have zero idea what you're talking about. He's shooting over 50% from the floor and 94% from the line. Additionally, his efficiency numbers are very good.

BTW, for those wondering what I might be worried about, I'm thinking long term. I DO NOT think a strong program in Iowa City is desirable.

Very concerned.

oh, and no, Jok does not shoot the ball 50 times a game. Reports are that he is actually very unselfish and should take more shots than he does! Scary to think since he is averaging 27/game or so.

I wouldn't say that, it is high school. That is what you will get with the best player on the team in high school.
He can only score in one way. The jump shot. He can't drive, jump, and has no burst. He is a good pickup for Iowa because they need shooters, but he is going to be too big a defensive liability to be more than situational.

A stud in Jok? The kid is not half the player he was supposed to be. He is not exactly dominating his Iowa competition. Morris and Thomas fix two huge issues next year, and Gibson and Niang will be that much better. We beat Iowa next year.

Have you not been paying attention this year? Or does Jok scoring 20, 30 and 32 points in his first three games not count as "exactly dominating?"

I thought the effort was poor. Hard to believe a team could represent themsleves so poorly in a rivalry game like that. I have no idea what Clyburn was doing but he was either sick or shaving points, no human could play that poorly with any other excuse. Melviin? Was Melvin even in Iowa City? Hard to believe but that is basketball for ya, hard to explain these things.

That said, this is the first time I became worried. Just how easy is Clyburn to shut down? We are real soft under the hoop, half court offense is brutal and we have major foul problems. But again, when you run a lot of stuff through Clyburn and he decides to hold his **** instead of playing hard, it is going to be hard to win. Doesn't help Melvin was in foul trouble all game. I think Will can come back and be fine, I don't want to get to down on the guy. Melvin will be fine.

There were some bright spots. KL picked it up after a horrid start. Babb was good. Tyrus was off I thoguht but still played hard, unlike Clyburn. Niang and Percy had good offensive games.

Other thing that kills me is lettin Oglesby and Gesell get open from 3. Those guys can't hurt you any other way and Oglesby should not be on the floor in a D1 game, and yet there they were, hitting wide open shots.

Not a great coaching job by Freddy tonight and some terrible execution, but with Clyburn playing so poorly the gameplan went out the door mid way through the first half.

OK wait...we're talking about Peter Jok from WDM Valley, right? And today's Peter Jok not the Peter Jok who played injured the past two years, right? I'm just making sure here.

I have a connection to the WDM team. You aren't talking about the kid playing this year--and I'm not even sure he's quite back yet physically.

Who is reporting? The real recruiters say the kid was too lazy to work on his game, and injuries finished off any high end potential. And when you are 6-7 and can shoot, you will score alot in Iowa HS basketball. That doesn't mean you are an elite recruit.

Did Jok **** your wife or something?

Come on. There is a reson why every single recruiting site dropped him out of their top 10 into the realm of the unrated. That and the fact that pretty much every program, including ISU, pulled their offers. People on this board are acting like he is Nick Collison.

Yes. And that reason was that he had a major knee injury. Worse than an ACL tear. You're making things up as you go since you clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

Yeah, he's nowhere near a top 10 recruit. He's also not 6'7 and playing against guys "half a foot shorter than him" as you claim. He'll be a solid player for Iowa, especially if he's fully healed. If nothing else he can be a better version of Ogelsby for them.

Here's what bothers me most about Hoiberg's ISU teams thus far... he said we were going to run, we were going to pressure, get turnovers, and fastbreak. We don't do any of that.

Iowa comes out and pressures us half the night, creates a ton of turnovers, fastbreaks on us, gets dunks on us, etc. And we walk the ball up and play half court uninspired ball all night long.

That is what frustrates me the most. Both Fred and Fran promised a high octane, fast paced style of ball, but only Fran has delivered that.

He can't run because we don't have much in the way of ball handlers. Lucious is out of control. Ejim can't dribble. Babb has problems off the dribble. Clyburn looks uncoordinated with the ball in his hands much of the time.
