How cold does it have to get for ISU to cancel classes?

I think they only canceled afternoon classes once when I was (03-Fall 07). That was for heavy snow and blizzard conditions north and west of Ames. Of course, it was the one day I didn't have afternoon classes and I was already on campus by the time they made that call.

I remember multiple mornings walking to my 8 AM mechanics class where the temperature was below 0 and stayed below 0. Walking down welch and into campus was downright painful at times.

At what temp does hell freeze over? Take that number and subtract another 30. The actual temp too none of this pansy feels like crap.

U of Minnesota's classes canceled tomorrow. Wind chill at -50 tomorrow

For us (southern WI), they're saying frostbite to exposed skin within 10 minutes....I looked and the UW is remaining open (also wind chills down to -50), but I'm sure it's that's probably the right call for the U of M with that split campus.

Sometimes the U. makes it more difficult to get to class because to clear walks, the U. employs large brushes instead of plows. Students used to call these machines "ice polishers" because they made walking worse than if nothing had been used.

by the U. do you mean somewhere other than ISU? Cause they use those there too, and that's exactly what we called them.

When I was in school we had 2 snow days. Freshman year we took the trays from MWL dining center and sledded down the hill at the disk golf course by the Ice Arena. Goodness that was fun. I almost died a few times.

Years ago, I walked from Towers to campus in about -40 or so wind chill one day for an 8:00. They cancelled Iowa and UNI classes, but ISU stayed open. Walked backwards most of the way and ducked into any businesses on the way.

January or February of my freshman year (2011) there was a morning where classes were cancelled. If I remember correctly it was a combination of impending blizzard and very cold temperatures.

I remember one year, must have been winter of 2000/2001 where they tried to take the busses out and the first few got stuck and they cancelled classes. I think that is the only time in our time I remember, and we had some pretty cold days.

UNI is cancelled tomorrow, according to there site.

Iowa State won't cancel. We're the farm boys of the state. We're supposed to be tough.

University of MN cancelled classes, but left the university open for other business...bah still have to work!
That's funny to me. If you're a student stay home because it's too dangerous, if you work here **** you, see you at 8.
