Home field advantage

WVU was breaking the rules with how they played their music.

Agreed - on a couple instances they let it go too long, once was legit 5 seconds after the ref wound the clock.

That said, they would play their ads, etc at the beginning of a tv timeout and with 30-40 seconds left, get the crowd hopping. It was impressive how well they "managed" the crowd.

Our management by contrast was pretty bad. The calls for "get loud" were particularly weak and there were many times where we would carry a hyped up crowd into a tv timeout but by the time play resumed it had died down.

I was going to start my own thread, but this fits well enough.

I went to both the WVU game and the Texas game. While the crowd was awesome for the Texas game, it absolutely could have been better in some respects. And it's not really the crowds fault.

In Morgantown, the PA/video board did a MUCH better job at hyping the crowd at the right times to get that place absolutely rocking. They had roughly 45,000 where we had 65,000. It was also colder and rained a little at the beginning of the game. I'm not a guru of hype or game day production... but the difference is absolutely real. This is a margin that Jamie Pollard should be addressing asap. One simple thing is at WVU they have a bell that sounds on every 3rd down - kinda hokey, but it worked.
Interesting. Maybe instead of a bell we could use the 'pre' siren sound indicating a message is coming.

Haven't seen a game at the Jack since 2011 (damn, I need to get back). Every game on TV the last couple years it come through as very electric. Last few games they can never find anything except an old field camera that isn't shaking violently. Crowd noise coming through.

I watch a ton of college football and not many other game on tv have that atmosphere.
