No way Herman signs this deal without talking to A&M and Texas first IMO. Herman to South Carolina was supposed to be a done deal until LSU almost opened. So maybe Herman really wants the LSU job. The big 12 would seem to be an easier path to a National Title. No Saban. The big 12 does need Texas to be a contender. I enjoy the coaching silly season. Texas might have leaked this to throw a wrench in the mix. Might have been worried that LSU and Herman were close to a deal type thing.

I don't think the bolded part is true at all. The committee is clearly biased towards the Big10 and SEC - they have scenarios on how Ohio State can still make the playoff without playing in the Big10 championship for crying out loud. The Big12 has doomed itself without expansion, adding a championship game and keeping the round-robin format. Not only does Texas have to go 9-0 in the conference, but they have a matchup with the second-strongest team in the Big 12 in the championship game while also having to make sure their other 3 non-con games aren't all against pushovers. That doesn't even mention the headaches of dealing with UT fans and boosters wanting immediate results. An undefeated Texas team makes the playoff without question, but a one-loss Texas team suddenly has to compete for the 3-4 seed against the ACC, Pac12 and any other at-large teams also with one loss.

I agree that the championship game with 10 teams is silly and that not expanding when Louisville asked was a huge mistake. Ohio State getting in without a big 10 title doesn't seem like a huge deal to me as long as the big 10 doesn't get 2 teams in. When TCU and Baylor got left out of the final 4 the big 12 panicked. It reminds me of the cola wars of the 80's when pepsi freaked Coke out and Coke came out with NEW Coke and Coke looked like a fool. The big 12 flinched and it will hurt teams in the long run. The big 12 Championship game has knocked out at least 2 national Championship chances that I can remember. Kansas State knocked out by A&M and Nebraska lost to James Brown and Texas.

The sports fan likes to talk common sense and reason. I think this may come down to ego and benjamins.

**** Texas. **** the Big 12.

Ok lol sorry I like ISU in the P5 and the millions we are getting each year. It's on Iowa State to field a team that's competitive. If CMC turns this thing around we will beat Texas more than once every 10 years.

Me too. And I believe CMC will turn this around. My bold prediction is that ISU beats OU in Park's senior year at JTS. Then it will be evident.

If you are Texas who is your dream hire? Saban, Chip Kelly,
If Hermann goes to LSU, then either Major Applewhite or Craig Bohl to Texas. Quite frankly, I would place my money on Applewhite as an former Texas player (despite his inappropriate relationship in 2009, as you know how these southern B12 schools are).

Have there been any rumblings about how much longer Saban wants to coach? Does he have any desire to return to the NFL since that's the only black mark on his resume? It wouldn't be fun to have to go through him now but he's not going to be there forever...is he?

Wonder if any of these schools looking for a coach will pump the brakes some on Herman. He's in a pretty good position though because there don't seem to be any other hot names out there for AD's to be looking at. He's kind of the only one out there right now.

Imagine if you are Strong right now. Your bosses are going to talk to another guy but yet you aren't fired along with saying that you may be able to keep your job if you blow out TCU. While it all sucks, Strong will be better off leaving that crapshow.

It was reported by more than one source that Strong was informed after the ku game what was going to happen at the end of the season, stay or go. The higher ups at ut said publicly earlier in the year Strong would be allowed to coach out the season no matter what.

I have to imagine these brand name teams will throw big money at PJ Fleck from Western Michigan once Herman chooses his destination.

I told my dad Friday morning that Herman wouldn't end up at LSU. ESPN always bones up these early reports.

The one suggestion I've read that made the most sense was fleck to Oregon. He
His fire could amp up that recruiting and fan base again.

Rumors in the grate state of texass has it that Houston will increase tom herman's salary by 1.5 million per year if he will stay.....Great article on foxsports re Herman's coaching and that he mite not be ready for a power five school...which I thought was interesting

LSU seems to have serious delusions of grandeur. Under Miles they were consistently a 10+ win team and in the championship conversation multiple seasons. Yet somehow that wasn't good enough.

Not only that but LSU won a natl championship with Les Miles.......If Les goes to Purdue that will be another game that the Ioa choke-eyes will lose....lol
