my advice-don't join any frat.

if you are hell bent on doing so, hang out with the guys you would be living with. join the frat where you feel comfortable and fit in. don't go by reputation or party reputation. no matter what you do, YOU are going to make the experience that you have, not the frat you join.

It always kinda p#ssed me on when Fratties had some of the old test to look at before the exam.

This wasn't exclusive to the greek world. Unless your program had nothing but jerks for upper classmen, this is what every extra "study session" I ever went to the week of an exam was.

Somebody, answering questions and going through last year's exam.

If you couldn't get a look at last year's exam, you really weren't trying.

I hope all the anti greeks stop, realize and thank the greek community for running all the major events that go on during the school year and with out them it would be a disorganized cluster.

Oh and stay away from the argument we never get a chance to run them the interviews are posted and opened to everyone that has ambision to apply.

Uhhh.. you guys do realize that the OP is a bot, right?[/QUOTe

if you are going to major in ag-go alpha gamma rho. if you are any other major-look at the tkes.if you are a jock, look at phi si house right next to the kappa alpha theta house( a sorority with some neat looking chicks..also i thought the delta sigs had a good group.

i was an aggie and a jock but 3 of the dirty thirty guys and i studied on the floor of the delta sigma phi house from 7 pm to 10 pm.every night. i took more math, science, chemistry than most ags because i knew i was going on to grad school..the group of us that gathered together at the delta sigma phi house included bill smith(a fullback),**** scesniak(a guard) and dave hoppman( a tailback) from the dirty thirty era.. i was on the wrestling squad...we would get done studying and head downtown for a cool one after studying. every dam place we went, some a****** wanted to get in a fight with us...they were always after hoppman. i grew up boxing one of my brothers and did a little golden glove action back in the 40 and 50's.we would duke it out, get our beers down and get the hell out of down town ames b4 the police arrived. harol nichols was very good with keeping the police off from his wrestlers and he was also very good keeping the cops off from clay stapeltons
' thirty 30....
dave hoppman(an all american tailback) was kiiled in a car accident in florida when he was 30 years old. **** scesniak went to missoui and helped coach the tigers and he also got a law degree. bill smith(the big 6-4 235 full back) was from grundy center, iowa, i do not know where he went.we studied hard, played hard, and all of us ended with very good grades....clay stapeton was on bill smith's case about going to class . he never went to class. stapelton was on his case about attending class.bill was smart when we concentrated on studying.stapelton was going to kick him off from the team..hoppman was a fast learner and pretty savy.scesniak was a good student. i took 30 quarter hous that quarter and had 3 classes simultaneously. i made arrangements with the teachers to only take the tests in those three subjects. also worked heavily at the food sytems in either a sorority or one of the women's dorms. that is where you could meet the better looking ladies.
in that quarter hoppman got a 3.4, scesniak about a 3.3, smitty a 3.5, and i pulled a 4.0 --one of the 3 quarters that i was able to do that.
I WILL TELL YOU ONE THING THAY HApPENED THAT QUARTER WAS THE BILL SMITH REALLy MADE COACH STAPELTON EATS HIS WORDS....
does anyone know where smiity and scesniak live ??? and is stapleton still living. i thought stapelton retired in central missouri afer he left ames...have not seeen or heard about him for years...

And when it comes to volunteering and fundraising, the Greeks win in a land slide.

Im starting at ISU this fall and need some help choosing a fraternity. In all honesty Im wonder which one has the most fun, throws the best partys, and has the best group of guys to meet and be friends with. I know that there are many reasons to join a frat such as academics, by major, charity work, future buisness connections ect. All fraternitys will have these advantages, so if I could get help with my question on the social aspected of which to choose that would be great! Thank you everyone in advance.

The greek system has changed quite a bit from the big party days. This is out of necessity and the ability to survive. The days of big parties and drinking are long over. If you choose a fraternity based on it still being a party house you'll be putting yourself at great risk. If the fraternity is caught holding a drinking party there are dire consequences for all involved. Just be smart about your choices when you look at what "social" refers to.

Not all the houses are dry houses yet. And those that are dry or "damp" still have ways to get around those rules and have fun. I agree that fraternities are more than just partying, but being social is a huge aspect of college life in general, and Greek life is one way to have an active social life. It's also a great way to form friendships, network, gain leadership skills and work on academics.

Fiji house had the lowest dicks per capita rate when I was in school. Of course that was about 100 years ago, so WTF do I know.

One of the many perks when you join a fraternity.

But certainly could contribute to the higher GPA???? Obviously these connections can be made outside of frats but some on here try to correlate frats to a higher GPA based on this concept.
