Heading into March Madness

We can still make a run, but Rob Jones, Tre King and Milan need to get it together. They combined for 7 points today, that cannot happen for guys playing about 90 minutes a game. Play Omaha or Watson more if that's the output we're getting.

Milan and Tre have been very inconsistent offensively over the last month. First half of the conference season we could routinely get 8-10 points from both of them. Now we’re having games where 10 points combined between the two is becoming more regular. Too much of a drop off after Lipsey, Gilbert, and C Jones, especially if one of those guards is struggling.

Lipsey with 0 assists today. Would like to avoid that stat again.

The lack of respect for the toughness of this conference, and the record this team just put up, is pretty amazing. ******* KU is going to finish 6th after being preseason #1 in the country.

Everyone take a breath, these guys earned a 2 or 3 seed, and finally get to step back out of a conference that has had a chance to scout this staff for three years straight.

Who here is demonstrating “disrespect” to the Big 12? (which of course is by far the best conference)

People don't get how tough this league is. This was my first road game experience in my life and its absolutely hostile at a 7-10 NIT team with students on spring break.

The fact we were able to win 4 road games and then not even slip up at home despite playing 6 NCAA tourney teams in Ames is quite the season.

I am telling you this game will be great come the NCAA Tournament. Just watched TJ’s postgame presser and he was pissed. He gave credit to KSU because he’s classy, but you could tell with the language he used he was basically saying, “I don’t know WTF we were doing out there today after jumping out to that lead.”

He’s not going to run them ragged because that would be counterproductive, but he is going to make sure that today’s effort was completely unacceptable. I think you will see a team more focused and playing much better come tournament time. In KC? Not sure how that will go. But the NCAA Tournament is going to be back to normal I think.

Wasn’t really the case last year. I think we will be ok. But things since West Virginia have been off.

With different players that couldn't have gotten the game to 5 or pulled it off vs. BYU like this group. And iirc each player had their worst +/- game of the entire season all at once against Pitt or something like that.

That's not to say that they couldn't get beat in the first round. Pretty sure every single program has at some point even with high seeds.

They might also win a game or two.

Just gotta see how things shake out. Sports is weird.

There seemed to be some real piss and vinegar in how he was talking and Tamin seemed to know what's coming haha.

Tamin was real honest too...basically they need to defend better and avoid forcing things offensively.

For all we know they might have their best week of practice all year and come out revamped over the next two-three weeks.

The only thing I will disagree with from Tamin is they are clearly taught that defense is their offense. Well the first ten minutes of the game they did play great defense and we still only scored 11 points in that timeframe.

So what he said in the post game made no sense. If the defense fuels the offense we basically should have put that game away ten minutes in. Because KState did NOT want to be there. The Wildcats only had 11 points with 5 minutes to play in the half. Can’t be better than that on defense.

So why did we only have 18 at that point?

Time to start CuJo, and rotate in KG? Wouldn't mind mixing things up a bit in KC, but I trust TJ to figure out what's best for his squad.
I
The Gilbert drive into 3 defenders thing has to stop. Also Gilbert getting the majority of the ball even with Lipsey in. Makes no sense to me. Also take your shots when they’re open my god. Milan has been passing them up. Ward has a wide open 3 footer. Instead tries to go past the defender for a layup, gets stuffed, takes the same shot he had open fading away.
It would behoove TJ to have a tough conversation with Gilbert, “this thing is not about you averaging 15 ppg a game, it’s about the team winning.”

And Tamin said that in the post-game.

They didn't get stops to get things turned into offense but still on offense they were forcing things.
