HBO's Succession

dark episode

Who's going to be the blood sacrifice? Tom or Kendall? Maybe Gerri? My gut tells me Kendall.

I don't think it'll be Tom. He's not a powerful enough figure in the operation. As general counsel Gerri is probably too dangerous since she knows where the bodies are buried. Kendal is still useful to Logan. Mostly as a punching bag/hatchet man, but still.

Could it be Shiv? I mean, the whole season has mostly been about Logan jerking his daughter around and breaking her down. This whole thing feels like it's coming full circle - at the beginning of the season he brought her in close by promising her she would be the CEO in waiting, only to destroy her political career and leave her hanging. And now going into the finale we have him bringing her in close again. Does she stick in the inner circle this time or is he just setting her up to take the fall? Also worth noting that Shiv was the one who more or less orchestrated Rhea being named future CEO right before the cruise line stuff went public, effectively screwing Rhea over and causing her to walk away from the whole mess. Logan's pissed, and he's smart enough to figure out who's responsible and punish them. I think Shiv's in trouble.

And where is Marcia in all of this? I don't believe she just quietly left.

Kendall !!!!!!! My number one boy.

I knew that with the way Kendall was handling things, something was going to happen, but I thought he was going to kill himself.

Yea, but Shiv never made much sense since she did not even work at the company, and roasting a woman makes no sense when the company is accused of terrible treatment of women.

Kendall was always the logical choice, but man, he lit the house on fire.

No one's been more proud of anyone since ISU beat Nebraska in 2009, than I am of Kendall right now. I think Logan is a little proud too.

Can't wait to see what happens next season. I guess when they're running through the list of things that Logan covered up, there may be a car accident in England that get's brought up if he goes full **** you mode.

Yeah, you're right. In hindsight it was never going to be Gerri or Shiv because of the optics. Good call. I never even considered that.

Isn't that kind of tricky for Logan, though? By bringing up the car accident/manslaughter he would implicate himself since it was his security team that covered it up.

Yep, but if you're already going to jail for covering things up, what's one more so your son can be in the cell next to you?

I think Logan was in on it.

1. He was ready to do it at the dinner.
2. He basically dared Kendall to do it when he said he wasn't a killer. Scene #1 of next should be him breaking into a big smile and saying, "See, that's what this company needs", to the other two kids.

Also, Cameron from Ferris Bueller asking for $100M was a solid move this episode.

Yep. That was Kendall's breaking point. He'd done so many things because it's what dad wanted (shutting down his baby, the alt news agency, for one), only to be **** on even after he offered himself up as sacrifice. I think if Logan had praised Kendall there, he maybe goes along with it.

The moment I saw Greg was coming along carrying that envelope, I knew something was up.

p.s. this is such a great show that we are all thinking about what these characters would do, as if they are real people...says a lot.

I really kind of thought he was going to break into a grin at the end of that episode.

Just caught up. Could see the end coming, but still really enjoyed it. To me, it's the Kendall/Tom/Greg show, and I'm fine with that. The rest of it I kinda go in and out of focus. They try way too hard with the Roman dialogue. If he's going to be Mr. One-Liner, he has to have funnier lines.

We just started watching this show and I love it.

It's funny because to me it's Yellowstone but in a corporate setting.

I think I like it because from the accounting/business perspective I can relate but I also love all the off color and nasty dialog.
