I didn't see a thread about the new HBO drama. Anyone else seen the first few episodes? Solid cast. I've been told it's kind of similar to Billions on Showtime but I haven't seen that so I have no basis for comparison.

Anyway, Succession seems ok so far. It's different because as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be a protagonist character. They're basically all awful people one way or another.

I have it recorded, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I want it to be good

I've watched the first three episodes. It has kept my attention, but I have not been overly impressed. It's early though.

Starting watching episode one and didn't even finish it. Channel flipped into episode three and it didn't seem any better.

Yeah, I'm staying with it so far out of curiosity and it is reasonably entertaining. But what's nagging at me is that I don't know what exactly I'm supposed to like about it. Am I supposed to be rooting for one of the characters, or is this just like a "Yeah, **** the super rich and all their problems" sort of hate watch kind of thing?

Me too. I watched the first episode, but found no redeeming characters to even give a **** about. The father is a complete ass, hosing his son at the last minute. The kiss up future son-in-law is insufferable. The moronic nephew is barely believable as an actual character. I could kind of get behind Roman, but his prank on the poor latino kid at the end was just horrible and nonsensical.

I have the next two on DVR, and may have to start hoping for the complete destruction of this spoiled, 1% turd of a family.

Agree. Was like a cartoon character that belonged in something like Dumb and Dumber or the Hangover. To me, none of the characters are remotely believable. I can maybe watch something that is really good and has mostly unsympathetic characters but not something with both unsympathetic and unbelievable characters.

Anyone kept up with this and have an updated opinion?

I've stuck with it, although I haven't seen last night's ep yet. I wish the pacing would pick up a little bit, and at the end of last week's episode I thought maybe we were starting to get somewhere. I dunno...it's fine, but I don't love it. Same for Sharp Objects. I'll likely keep watching both of them, but in terms of HBO original content they're B- or C+ shows.

It's such a slow plodding drawn-out show I'm having a really hard time investing any time into it. I'm trying, but I keep getting distracted by the sink dripping and the sound of paint drying.

It's kind of like a dark comedy that lacks any comic relief. It just makes me feel bad.

I think that's a big problem, too. There is literally nobody to cheer for in the entire cast. Every major character has an agenda of some sort. Even Greg. He's a dumbass but even he's turned into a snitch for like two or three different people. You just kind of hope they all fail in some fantastic way.

I've ended my dalliance but my wife likes it. I like the Kendall character but for me there are too many cliche plot devices and there are a few too many over-the-top characters like the guy Caulkin is playing.

I need another show to watch as much as I need a hole in my head, but this one does look interesting.

They are all the same person. If the worthless nephew was a schemer and slimy character that was looking to go to the top they might have a show. The show is going no where. The son that was supposed to take over was an incompetent wuss that didnt help.

I watched the first two episodes than bailed but watched again last night when it came on after Sharp Objects. Last night was a little better but since I haven't been keeping up, who was the younger gal who showed up from Paris? Some illegitimate daughter or something?

The only satisfying end to this is if they all die by guillotine after the revolution*.

* Which will not be televised.

I don't think there was a girl from Paris. Are you thinking of Connor's girlfriend, Willa? She is apparently a high end escort that Connor is trying to talk into a normal relationship. Entire family knows she is a prostitute and Marcia just directly throws it in her face with the story about one of her friends being a prostitute in Paris, but getting killed.

I still watch it on DVR, but my opinion remains the same. I hope Logan crashes and burns the company and they all end up on their asses. idk why, but I think I hate Marcia the most. Just a scheming little heartless spider.

I usually give it a few episodes and check reaction. User ratings (6.9/10) aren't enough to get me to check it out.
