My bro-in-law is an Oregon Ducks fan and he has come to 3-4 ISU football games in Ames.......so as a trade, I agreed to go with him to a couple Phish shows in Denver this weekend. I've listened to Phish off and on for years, but have never heard them live. Have any fanatics seen'em live before? If so, do you remember it, hah!? I'm pretty sure they got banned from playing @ Hilton after their last show there......musta been a pretty good show.

But the more I listen to these guys, the more I like them. You can't take them too seriously from a lyrical standpoint (especially the early stuff), but they are definitely some serious musicians and I have a lot of appreciation for that.

Go 'Clones!

p.s. As a heads-up for anyone in downtown Denver Saturday night, I heard the Full Steam Tavern is going to be streaming the game from cyclones.tv in the bar.....which I have to say is pretty darn sweet. Not sure I'll be there b/c of the concert, but thought I'd share.

Never seen phish, but I do love their music. Had a weird situation. When they were at Hilton, I met them at a restaurant, but I had no idea who they were. Had a brief conversation with them. Just your average guys, you could never tell they were famous if you just run into them. After they left the restaurant the owner of the restaurant came up to me, and said "Do you know phish?" She was foreign so I thought she was talking about "fish". After about 2 minutes of misunderstanding each other I finally figured it out, and was so ****** off at myself that I didn't recognize them.

They do seem like pretty down to Earth guys and that's pretty cool you met them. Do you remember what restaurant it was?

Be sure to see them on a farewell tour. Their farewell tours are the best.

Who knows?.....maybe this will be the start of many shows for me and a farewell tour may be in the future. I don't know you MrOtter, but for some reason, I believe you know what you're talking about.

I've been to 9 shows over the years. Everyone is different and they never play the same song on consecutive nights. They are playing at ****'s out in Denver, should be a really good venue to catch them especially in Colorado... Enjoy and have fun. Wish I was going

I saw them in Detroit about 15 years ago. They put on a really good show and they're not some studio band that stinks live. You won't be disappointed if you like their music. Lots of laser lights and free weed too, if that's like your thing maaaan.

Yep, have been to many shows. They are playing pretty solid this tour.

Are you camping out there?

37 times. Best show ever was Big Cypress. Their shows are definitely full of entertainment. They tend to pull out some good stuff when in Colorado. Have fun!!!

I've seen them once, it's a pretty good environment more like a day or 2 festival with camping and fun.

Saw them in Chicago, and despite a horrible venue at Northerly Island, they were great. I'm making the trip to Hampton, Virginia for two nights. I'm looking forward to it. They are rocking right now, unless you're one of the true diehards that find something to ***** about every show.

Legal weed, music, can't imagine, even if you hated Phish, it would be that bad of a time. I have a co-worker who's been planning this trip for about 6 months.

Pretty solid little band. Annoying fans. The Phish-Dead comparisons are 100% inaccurate too. Wish I was going though. They were banned after the last Ames show, but it was because of illegal parking lot activities which is unfortunate, hence my comment about the fans.

saw them many times, deff worth your time to watch them live. as was stated before, no two shows are alike, and i do remember parts of the show at hilton. ha. enjoy.

Thank you for the shout out about the game being on at Full Steam Tavern!

yes, I've seen Phish as well at Red Rocks. It was an incredible show and I'm pretty confident that you will have a great time at Dicks Sporting Goods Park (although not as good as Red Rocks). Give a review next week.

I saw the Grateful Dead 8 times, does that count? First time was the "Wall of Sound" 1974 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Back on subject, never seen Phish live, but like their music.

Wow, that's an impressive # of shows! The band should send you a Christmas card every year.

Do they ever play with opening acts or special guests?........or is it usually just them for the whole show?

Seen them a couple of times. First time being at Alpine Valley for two nights. Got T-boned by an off duty sheriff on the way to the second show. Almost being killed kind of put a damper on the rest of night but got to see them again at Austin City Limits.

Also saw Trey with TAB a couple of times. I liked those shows better because because of the smaller venue.
