Happy Gene Chizik Day!

I think they were ALL dropped into the Red Kettles at Christmas time in '08.

Iirc here are some people who held onto the notion that Prohm just needed another year, and CPR just needing more time, and surely there's some who held onto Chizik being the guy.

Those people probably still have the coin.

5-19, and “firmly entrenched,” my hindquarters!
Was today the date he was hired?

I was in the marching band back then. We got the call to suit up and get to Hilton for his introductory press conference.

I vividly remember someone on the staff sitting at the press table with him passed out during the press conference. We should’ve taken that as an omen.

Sounds like a Wayne Bolt thing.

If I am correct, Walden was handicapped with Criner's violations. So, that gives the nod to Criner on BAD.

Criner's violations/allegations definitely are a cloud, but purely by W-L, he was only slightly below Duncan.

A lot of it probably seems quaint in the pay/NIL era, but it's unfair to retro-fit.

Criner-Duncan "head-to-head," Duncan was 3-1 vs. Iowa, Criner's teams got freaking crushed in CyHawk, and was even worse than Duncan vs. Nebraska/OU, overall. That didn't help.

Not being an apologist for Criner, that overlapped with bulk of my at-ISU period, and FB game experience is memorable, but not much of it is because on-field accomplishment.

It’s still insane to me that Auburn hired a guy with a 5-19 record and their AD was not put to death.
He won* a national championship there, it kinda worked out.

***just ignore the bag man for cam.
