I love Haliburton, but that was really cringey. He took about the worst shot possible, and got a really lucky bounce to make it, then did the choke sign because he thought it was a 3 for the win, not realizing they had only tied the game.
That shot still deserved the choke sign. He doesn't nail that and it's game over NY. Can't be understated what a huge shot that was. Watch the Knicks players reaction is all you need to see. Gutted them with that shot.

I dont watch much NBA. Tuned in tonight to watch Halliburton. Man, Stan Van Gundy really is annoying AF.

Semantics but I'm not sure if 'nailed' is how I'd describe that shot. It was a small miracle in physics imo.

Hopefully the Miller nod doesn't come back on him.

It doesn't get mentioned much but the Pacers lost that '94 'choke' series.

Evidently Indiana’s coach plays the long approach with minutes thinking about stamina and how it affects shooting in 7 game series. He consistently evens out playing time with Haliburton watching instead of contributing. McCullers can score but he can’t defend or distribute at the same level.

Sank, sunk, made, drained, clanked, drilled..use whatever word you care, the shot went in. Pacers went into OT and won the game. Won in NY with everyone in the planet watching that shot "fall". Minimize it if you want by using "semantics". More of a denotation if you want to get literal.

This is an example of intriguing sports trivia / "bar bet" detail.

There could be common assumption that the comeback/choke sign is synonymous with winning the series, but it's "only" a notable element of a specific game.
And we're all still talking about it. Reggie Miller is sitting court side commentating these games still getting pics of his choke flashed. Everytime anything NBA pops up on ESPN there's usually a big pic of Tyrese. His Sam Cassell "Big Balls" and Reggie Miller "Choke" will be talked about by a generation from now. Haliburton went to ISU. Helps recruiting and kicks money to the program. This is way bigger than bar trivia. Glad Tyrese has the guts to pull these moves. Really sticking his neck out by doing it, but he keeps backing it up.

That's all he needs to do. Just keep the game in hand or maintain the lead.

I didn't intend to minimize the choke sign as being insignificant or forgotten, mainly that it's a type of incident that could be associated (inaccurately) that it was a win that helped Indiana win the series, but @madguy30 comment made me think, "Oh, that's right, NY won."

Minimizing? I mean it's not like it was a swish straight up.

What would you call the Pacers' performance last night over the final 15?

I didn’t think the Knicks played well. Unfortunately, the Pacers didn’t make the plays needed in the second half to win. It was great Nesmith came back in the game. He is a big part of what they do and they will need him the rest of the series.

I hope this game last night doesn't end up costing the Pacers the series.... they had it won... and let it slip away.

i mean... the pacers played like **** the entire second half. not sure that is 'had it won' territory. NY was better last night in almost every facet of the game including energy and attitude.

carlisle should feel pretty stupid this morning for rolling out rotations that just werent working and sticking with them for too long. it was a pretty stubborn loss and mostly on him.

I’ll never understand why the Pacers didn’t drive into KAT in the 3Q when he had 4 fouls. Instead they backed off let him go for 20.

Nembhard had several open looks he passed on. Losing Nesmith stifled the O with the bench looking mismatched. Credit to NY with McBride sparking the comeback and Indy with no answer. Carlisle has to sub better.

It’s a shame because the series looked over with about 6 mins to go in the 2Q.

So so much of the NBA playoffs is coaching. Adjustments, counter adjustments, little tweaks over the course of 7 games. Milwaukee had a similar game 3. I would expect Indiana to come out firing on all cylinders tomorrow.

Rick Carlisle has never been that great imo.
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on his career, but he's got the Pacers playing incredibly well and they've already exceeded expectations. I'm not going to kill him for the team having a bad half of basketball.
