Green Bean Casserole

Corn casserole is like mac and cheese but with corn. REALLY good, especially with some gravy. I'd put it as #1 and green beans as #2. But put them side by side and mix 'em a little...even better.

Our corn casserole is like a box of jiffy corn muffin mix, a can of corn, and a can of creamed corn, some sour cream, and bake. And its' phenomenal.

I hate green bean casserole.

I love absolutely any other thanksgiving dish. The diner on my block has turkey/stuffing/mashed potatoes/normal steamed green beans year round on their menu and I eat it a few times a month whenever I'm there, I'd get pumpkin pie with it if they always had it. Same thing if I'm at a diner that has the open faced turkey sandwich, I bet I had Perkins open faced turkey sandwich at 3am back in my ISU post late night drinking years 100 times.

In Colorado, they have never heard of ham balls - or pork tenderloins.

I mean, Neanderthal, am I right.

We have been converting them one neighbor at a time.

Challenge is getting good pork in Colorado.

Iowa pork tenderloin sandwich is probably the hidden gem of all regional American comfort food.

I've described it to lots of people around the country and people are always intrigued.

GF made a really good green bean casserole this year with pecans and cranberries. Regular fresh green beans.

Wife makes a couple dessert type salads that are awesome. Only had one this year because it was just the four of us. We had the snicker salad with granny Smith apples. It never lasts through the evening. The other is a strawberry jello concoction with a pretzel crust.

Snicker salad is the shizz, definitely a midwestern dish cause another transplant at work brought it to a company potluck and everyone was wondering what it was.

My folks took it to a church potluck. Had a young boy tell them, "that's the best thing I've ever eaten ".

Misspelled your thread title. Should read “Green Bean Hotdish”

Now that you say this, I just realized my family says hotdish for everything but the green bean casserole. Yes, we’re all from Minnesota.
