Green Bean Casserole

My wife made the green bean casserole as our contribution to the family Thanksgiving the first year of our marriage. It was literally the recipe on the container of French’s Fried Onions and takes minimal time and effort, but now that is expected of her every Thanksgiving.
So if any young couples are looking for your contribution for the family holiday meal I highly recommend going with the green bean casserole.

BY FAR THE BEST HOLIDAY DISH. BETTER THAN TURKEY. BETTER THAN HAM. **** STUFFING. GRAVY IS CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR.

This year I went all out. Made my own mushroom soup/gravy. Whole mushrooms. Fresh french beans. Fried up a bunch of onions myself with homemade seasoning.

there's not much better than a really good GBC. i'm the designated chef for that during holidays.

my grandma used to make a killer scalloped corn and oyster casserole, which i've convinced my mom to start making.

i'll also never forget the first time i brought my wife (from the western Chicago burbs) out to my grandparents' farm for dinner. THAT was the day she learned that ham balls are real.
My father loves scalloped corn and oysters. I wonder if that is an Iowa thing?

Greenbean Casserole or Corn Casserole along with leftovers consisting of Turkey and Cranberry Sauce sandwiches. That's what life is about. (some folks like stuffing more than I do)

Stuffing is like the U2 of Thanksgiving. You don’t get the appeal at first, but then after years of it being served you finally come to understand the greatness

Only good thing about green bean casserole is eating the French's fried onions off the top of it.

Ground ham with a sweet sauce and baked. They're really good.

I remember seeing these at the dinning centers during my college days (2006-2010). I could never bring myself to eat one. Although, I think they were called ham loafs in the dinning center. I assume they are the same.

Not 60 yet, and still have stuffing well below the casseroles, turkey and cranberry sandwiches, and even Pickled Herring. I don't dislike it though.
