Grand View Christian

I can give him all my eggnog.
Maybe AE can go into a NIL deal with him
He consumes their eggnog and becometh big boi

Did you know it takes 40 minutes of walking to burn off the calories gained from consuming one cup of eggnog.

If you drink enough eggnog you can’t walk, or at least in a straight line.

Didn't see anything on here about it, but know that this kid visited for the Iowa game. Saw him and HS coach on TV. And to those asking, definitely not a shooter - skills are still developing. Good rim protector though and can catch lobs or finisher from the dunker position on offense. Will be interesting to follow his development and see if the offensive game keeps growing

The fact they play a lot of 1A ball really isn't helping. Beating on some 1A school 80-20 doesn't sharpen up ones skills.

Totally Agree...

Coach does a good job recruiting 2 main guys. 1 will typically will be a player like we are talking about here, Then he follows up with 1-2 sharp shooters. GVC gets the luxury of taking those guys and practicing year round at the coaches house (has his own gym).

I do find it odd for some some reason he can recruit D1 athletes, but they choose to keep playing 1A. Not sure what the attraction is with that. could you imagine...... Hey Tamin Lipsey, You want to play for Grandview this year? You get to play Lamoni, Perry, GMG and Meskwaki Settlement. Maybe on a good year we will schedule of couple Terrible 4A schools just to say we played bigger schools.
My opinion is no private schools should be playing 1A, but that is just me.

I guess a trophy is a trophy though.

Seen this kid play a few times. I think he is a really nice kid from what I have seen with his interactions with teammates and fans. I will say he is really raw though.

Playing up a division only changes your post season schedule. They would need to change conferences and GVC isn’t a ‘powerhouse’ outside of boys basketball. I’m sure they could schedule up their non-conference better.

Most kids from Africa (believe that is where is he from)probably don’t ask what size of schools they play when doing the student exchange thing.

They do, I looked at their schedule. East and North plus some 2 and 3As. Remember Knoxville, RS, and some others.

I was speaking of development only when speaking of 1A schools. It isn't like coach is going to a larger school and these recruiting players. These kids come to GVC with little to no experience playing basketball. And as an independent they can only play who they schedule. They may be 1A......but they are tied to no conference and I'm sure if coach Stubbs could he would play mostly larger schools. Some may not want to play a 1A and some may already have their schedule full. Come district time where the school size by Iowa standards dictates where they go. And there 1A schools that can compete with and beat them come that time.

I get what you guys are saying....they are independent an they get kids from africa, etc. I just think its funny when a team with a couple D1 guys go play @ Baxter. Not sure why, but its funny to me.

Also, I don't think you are required to play in the class you are sized at. North Linn is a great example of that a couple years ago. they wanted to win a title but they knew they couldn't do it at 1A because of Grandview. so they asked to move to 2A and they won 2A.. I don't think many do it, but its possible. (From what I understand anyway)

anyway...with the right development a kid like this could be a good addition to a college team.

I am fairly certain come district time you are required to play in what class size you are designated at the beginning of the season. North Linn has played more than one season in 2A, and the only time they won it was that year. They are now back to 1A and Grandview is still there doing what they do. If they did petition to move up a class and it was allowed, that would be the first time I have ever heard of that. I'm fairly certain it is based on enrollment for that calendar year or you would have the entire 1A class petitioning to have Grand View moved up come district time every year.

Schools can petition to go up a class. If you do it is a two year commitment.

Looks similar to McKay. Don't need to be a shooter with his long arms.
