I have posted in Reddit and the Google Nest Community...haven't gotten any feedback at all yet. Thought I would take a shot here. I have used a Google Home setup for a few years now...the simple explanation of the issue is that Google Home kicks my devices out of their assigned "rooms" on its own. Then they won't/don't function as they are intended. Almost daily I have to move the devices back into their assigned room and in the case of a couple of Chromecast devices I have to enter my password again! Guessing this is a long shot here but thought I would post what I asked in the Reddit forum and see if any of the good members of the CF community might give me some direction:

Over the past few months my Google Home ecosystem randomly continues to remove certain devices from my Home setup and labels them as "local devices" which are not assigned to rooms. When this happens I often have to verify my account by reconnecting with my phone (usually with Nest Hubs) or putting my password back in (on Chromecast with Google TV streaming devices). Occasionally one of my points will be removed from its room and assigned as a "local device". This ONLY happens with my Google products. My third-party devices (lights, smart switches, Alexa hubs, etc) NEVER get removed from a room on its own. This is frustrating as it happens almost daily! I have a Google Nest Wifi router with 3 points. The mesh test always checks in at "good" or "great" connection.

To troubleshoot I have individually factory reset specific devices which doesn't seem to be the answer. I have restored EVERY device to factory settings and re-added them to my Home. I have even deleted my Home and started over with a different name for the "new" Home. Nothing seems to prevent this issue from occurring.

What am I missing or not doing correctly? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

This isn’t the answer you seek, but I had similar problems that with the help of their “tech support” culminated into the total loss of google nest WiFi and the entire home setup. It was the last straw and I simply cut my losses and stopped using their products.

There is a massive opportunity for a truly solid home automation/ecosystem solution that isn't Alexa or Google. Alexa is nothing but constant ads - they keep adding "categories" that you have to keep going in and turning off to remove them (now up to 40 categories of ads). Google is a little leaner, but very lacking in the integration department. There are other minor players, but none that have voice activated, customizable screen, and fully integrated solutions.

I have about 80 smart devices (Hue, Ring, SmartThings, MyQ, SmartHQ, Alexa, B-Hyve, Google Home, etc) and it's actually not worth trying to integrate them into either Alexa or Google Home at this point. Basically everything in our house from lightbulbs to faucets, air purifiers, smoke alarms, motion activated accessories (i.e. Hue motion detector triggers various automations). Trying to manage even one group of them outside their individual app/ecosystem isn't worth the effort.
