I think that if it’s failing a drug test as the rumor suggests, that’s an NCAA decision of “suspended from all team activities”. For the whole game.

That would be why I’m confused by the persistence of the rumor.

Are players tested both under the NCAA and ISU?

The “failed drug test” issue is a bit more complex than I thought. Apparently there is a “B” sample as an appeal...

If that's what is going on, I'm guessing the B sample results won't be in until next week. :)

There’s also a not-insignificant difference between a team-administered and NCAA administered test. My recollection is that, per Big 12 agreement, 1st failed test is counseling, 2nd is suspension for 10% of the season (1 game for football, 3 for basketball), 3rd is removal from the team. I’m not sure how that was gamed for a certain former quarterback.

And what are the ISU guidelines for failed drug tests under their purview?

I'm pretty positive this is correct. Also the school administered ones are a lot easier to bypass than the NCAA ones.

Still surprised that if he actually is suspended that it hasn't gotten out publicly.

I have no idea if JGJ is playing or not but you can't take anything away from the practice stuff they do in front of Randy Peterson. Lol cmon
We have no idea what goes on between the players and the coaches, nor should we. JGJ could be suspended and might've asked Campbell if he could still practice and warm up with the team. JGJ could be suspended for just a half and is out there. All of this could be a load of crap and he's perfectly fine and will play the entire game Saturday. We will get these questions answered in about 48 hours.

We all have issues. Those without sins cast the first stone. Christmas day and all. Common cause ISU. Go Wind Turners!

OK, switching to something of greater interest, what is the general consensus on reason(s) why Toledo was the one bowl-eligible team not invited to a bowl?

They were basically one of those teams "on the bubble" of making a bowl game. There weren't enough spots to put them so they got left out. They were 6-3 after beating both Eastern Michigan and Kent State (both teams 6-6 and made bowl games ahead of them), but Toledo then went and lost their last three games, with their final two games losing by a combined 61 points.

Too bad JGJ is a RS Senior or CMC could just do what KF does over in IC.... let him play in the bowl game and then suspend him for the South Dakota opener next year.
