Golf Fight

The one thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is what a bad friend the playing buddy is. If that was my friend who was too drunk and stupid to realize that he's going to get curb stomped every time he approaches the hockey dude, then I would have physically grabbed him and drug his ass back to the golf cart and got him the hell out of that situation.
I agree but I think he was too drunk to make good decisions too.

Playing buddy is 2 sheets to the wind too

Golf very much requires athletic and cardiovascular exertion. It requires strength and coordination to hit a ball 100-300 yards.

If golf isn’t a sport than neither is baseball. Golfers will swing full power multiple times more in a round than a baseball player in a game. And while they don’t run, they are enduring way more cardio walking the course than a ball player will running the bases once or twice a game
Yeah I've heard all that.

Still not a sport.

Ya well one punch was plenty. He was basking in it. He could be an adult too.
The dude kept coming after him. Sometimes he punched him, sometimes he simply threw him aside. Zero punches would have been thrown if little big man had gotten in the cart and left after the 1st, 5th or 50th opportunity he had to do so.

He could have really walloped him if he wanted to. There are plenty of golfers I would like to throw into a lake but I don't have the skill or strength to do it like this guy did.

That's kind of my point. It was like an adult vs a child.

I am of the belief that golf is very much a sport.

However I don't think that baseball and golf are parallel. You cover hitting the ball and base running. But you don't include the similar walking and usually jogging that baseball players do at the end of each half inning. You don't include the top speed running that a baseball player does in fielding. You don't cover the exertion that ball players have throwing the ball on defense and you certainly don't account for the exertion of a baseball pitcher throwing the ball 90-100+ miles an hour 80+ times a game.

Golf is a sport but this is a terrible analogy.

Well I think you and I agree, both golf and baseball are sports.

I’m saying if you don’t think golf is a sport you could make the argument baseball isn’t either.

I’ve also played baseball and still play golf. Baseball competitively, golf recreationally. A round of golf is way more fatiguing than a baseball game

Yeah but Olympic sports like swimming, diving, track and field, etc. have no one playing defense and those are most definitely sports.
Swimming, track and field are the most basic of sports. Go from point A to point B whoever gets there first wins, whoever throws this object furthest wins, whoever jumps the highest wins, etc. You lose me with diving though, too much judging. Things like diving and gymnastics are in many ways more art than sport.

In baseball you're running and jumping and throwing and diving and sliding.

In golf, you're walking.

Not a sport.

But in terms of how physically demanding they are and the athleticism they require, light years ahead of golf.
