Getting wisdom teeth out...

I'm getting all four of my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, and I am not excited :sad9cd: Two have erupted and two are impacted. I'll be heavily sedated so I shouldn't remember anything (I wouldn't have it any other way), so at least the procedure should be a breeze.

Anyone else had theirs out already? How'd it go? Any words of encouragement? :wink0st:
 
Its OK. I liked getting drugged up but once it wears off it sucks. It takes about a week before you can eat real food again and a couple of months before you forget about them totally.

My advice: Enjoy the Drugs!
 
I wasn't knocked out when I got mine out, which ....sucked. Actually it wasn't as bad as I thought but still not fun obviously.

I was fine within a couple days (thanks to the painkillers) but it definitely took awhile for my mouth to feel normal again.
 
I had mine taken out and it wasn't really all that bad. I was drugged pretty well to not feel the pain but was awake enough to hear the cracking of teeth cause the dentist had to break them to get them out. I had ice cream instead of yogurt. Soft foods for awhile but after couple days I was ok.
 
I just had novocaine when mine were done. My regular dentist did it, not a specialist. My situation was similar to yours--two impacted, two straight down. Sucking on bloody gauze isn't fun, and it took me a couple of weeks before I could eat "most" normal food without worrying about it. IIRC I had a second job interview in Cincinnati a week or two after I had it done... The guy couldn't believe I was out there.

I laughed.

I haven't had mine out yet but my dentist keeps insisting I do so. Mine aren't impacted and are actually about two-thirds of the way in. Considering that I think the procedure would probably be cake but it just doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
 
I had all of mine taken out about 3 years ago. The messed up my stitches and I had to go back in because the bleeding wouldn't stop. First two days after sucked, but it got better pretty fast after that.
 
Had mine taken out at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, barely remember the car ride home, woke up about 4:00 pm, spit the bloody gauze out and was drinking beer by 7:00 that night. I still have the 20 pain killer pills they gave me, anybody know the street value for them :-)
 
It took me three weeks to eat regular foods without getting food stuck in the cavaties. The younger you are the better! I'm not young anymore and they hurt like hell. I had dry sockets and they were horrible. Alot of painmeds, beer and Motrin.
 
I blew up like a chipmonk and was out of commission for a while. Because of the way they had to dig them out my top gums were sensitive for about 8 or 9 months. This doesn't happen regularly but don't flip out if a spot or two is still bothering you in 2 or 3 months. Sometimes it can take a year to get right. Boooooooooo
 
honestly, for me, it was one of the coolest things ever. i was drugged up for a week, was catered to, and i semi woke up during the procedure and it felt like someone was massaging my mouth...it was pretty dang sweet. plus i had extra hydrocodone to take at my disclosure :wink0st:
 
I'm 18 so I got mine out recently... sometime in Feb... I really thought the pain was overrated from what everyone told me but I think I may have just gotten lucky. I like you, had 2 erupted along w/ 2 impacted... I was honestly eating solid food 2 or 3 days after but I just had to watch and make sure the food doesn't get caught in the holes. After every meal wash out your mouth with warm salt water and don't brush your teeth for a few days. I also recommend keeping Ice on your mouth as much as possible... it helps a lot. I didn't even use the extreme pain killers just the ones that you can get over the counter! I wouldn't worry about it, a lot of people make it sound a lot worse than it is!

One month ago yesterday I had mine taken out. Two weeks later I could eat everything normally again. Make sure to use lots of ice packs to keep the swelling down, I did not puff up that much. I only used pain meds the day of the procedure.

Words of wisdom, do not SUCK ON ANYTHING for a couple of days! No straws, no slurping and be careful how you spit even. The sucking causes the dry sockets which are extremely painful.
 
I had all four of mine out the first week of my college career (why the hell did I do it then????).

It wasn't that horrible immediately after. You can't feel your face at all and they hopped me up on meds so I slept for about two days.

The worst part was a week or so later I was eating in the commons of Maple Willow Larch and bit on something and screamed in agony....I had a dry socket. That f-ing sucked big time. Hope you don't have to go through that.
 
i made the mistake of standing up to look at my wisdom teeth when i got home. i guess i stood up to fast and blacked out. my roomate said i fell back, broke my door, and fell face flat into my floor. i got a concussion and had a hard time concentrating in school. i blacked out one more time that day heading back to my room from the kitchen. my roomate caught me the second time.
