Sayers and I went to high school together, albeit at different high schools; he in Omaha and me in CB.
Our senior year, I went to watch a high school indoor track meet at Boystown. Sayers and his brother ran the 60 yard hurdles and both finished a hurdle and a half ahead of the rest of the field.
I next saw him on the field at Clyde Williams. Before the game, one of our football players told us in class that Sayers was easy to take down; just get a hand on him. After the game, when asked why he didn't take Sayers down, the player said "You can't get a hand on him."
