Here it goes:

"Build the statue" is a common term when talking about great coaches and athletes. For Iowa State, who would you build the statue of and more importantly include a picture to show what pose the statue would look like.

I think the logical spot would probably be either at Coldwater or in front of the golf facility on 69.

I know it's too soon to discuss Campbell, but as the best football coach we've had something like this with him fired up and yelling at the refs would be a good one.

At one point I thought Fred Hoiberg may 1 day have a statue at ISU if he coached long enough here, but he kind of tainted his legacy by bailing to go be a failed NBA head coach. I don't really know who I would make a statue of. Fred had an opportunity to create a legacy that no other person could have accomplished had he stayed and maybe won some conference titles and taken a team to the Final 4 some day to go along with all his accolades as a player.

Campbell is the closest there has been in a while but I feel like he would have needed to stay here longer and won a conference title or make the CFP to make it a conversation. When you look around the country at programs that have statues of legendary coaches they are guys that were there a long time and maybe won multiple conference titles and a national championship. Just because he is the winningest FB coach we have had I'm not sure is enough for me to put up a statue for as he still fell short of his goal of winning a conference championship here.

I picture the statue of him as one where he's squatting along the sidelines. That seems to be a favorite pose of his.
