Friday OT - Binge Entertainment

Which sucks because a lot of times networks won't give them more than a season to prove themselves. Seems like the weaker comedies that are more typical family shows are given more time, while other ones suffer.

I'm thinking The B in Apartment 23 and Trophy Wife. I know there are a few other recent ones but I'm blanking.
Parks and Rec was almost a casualty. It took the writers and cast almost a full two seasons to really get it right. Season one borders on awful. You could see the potential, though.

going through Hell on Wheels right now. Got through the Good Wife last summer (minus about 5 episodes) and DH wants to watch Breaking Bad next.

Movies: LOTR, John Carpenter movies, Mel Brooks movies, The Naked Gun Trilogy, Star Wars
TV: Walking Dead, Black Adder, Defiance, sometimes Burn Notice

Rashida Jones can revive a show for me...

Arrested Development - I will find myself wanting to watch one episode, and end up watching about 6 more before finally caving and watching the show all over again. I do this about twice a year.

I don't get to watch much tv at all anymore, but we used to love some of the marathons that used to run:

Seinfeld
Cheers
Friends
Law and Order
Star Wars trilogy

The Tick (animated) was also a series that we'd tape (yes VHS) and waste a weekend on.

Any more, the first round of March Madness keeps me glued to several TV's.

I forgot about The League and Wilfred. I hate it when I'm coming to an end of those seasons.

The current Simpsons marathon on FXX is pretty awesome. Every episode ever over 12 days.

Yeah, NBC took a lot of heat for canceling My Name is Earl (which I loved) in favor of Parks & Rec. Now P&R is one of my favorites but I do still miss Earl.

I had heard about Burn Notice from my sister-in-law. I went through those episodes pretty quickly. Psych and Monk are two other shows that were binge entertainment for me in the past.
I also "eat up" Star Trek movies and TV series as well.

I binge on Game of Thrones and Walking Dead after the season as I record it to watch later.

Binge watching is the way to go these days with DVR and Netflix. Why sit through commercials if you don't have to!?!?!

Recently I have torn through Season 1 of Silicon Valley and True Detective, the most recent season of Game of Thrones, and got caught up on The Leftovers. Also loving The Simpsons marathon on FXX!

I know it might sound like I watch too much TV and yeah I probably do. In my defense, I stay home with my daughter during the day and can only stand so much Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Sofia the First :)

Anything BBC. They are making arguably better shows than we are right now. I binged the whole series of Luther in two days. The BBC The Fall is fantastic and only 5 episodes. Binge-watched that in a night. The other great BBC show is Broadchurch and binged that in a week. That show, by the way, is being remade in the USA on FOX. You may have seen promos for it lately...called Gracepoint. Not sure it can live up to Broadchurch though.

It would be remiss to not mention the original The Office with Gervais. Heads and shoulders better than the U.S. version even though I think that version is quite good. Binge that series if you haven't.

Orange is the New Black is a great binge show. So is True Detective. House of Cards is awesome too.
