Friday OT #2 - The Projects

I scanned all my photographs going back to my youth. Also a lot from my parents and even some grandparent ones. Fortunately I know who the people are in most of them. The exception being my Dad's from when he was in the Army in the early 40's.
All fit on a 32G thumb drive. Now trying to label and eventually give copies to siblings.
I was going to do that anyway but it worked out for the timing that I had no reason to blow it off. Took about a month working pretty steady.

I painted a bathroom, planted a garden, and started playing some old computer games I remembered liking as a child in some spare time. Like the sims and roller coaster tycoon.
What will happen next. The exterior paint on my aluminum siding is flaking off so next project will probably be to strip all the paint. The visible bare aluminum siding is a nice shade of grey so I doubt I will repaint. At least not at this time. Getting house reshingled too, and need to clean out/replace the gutters unfortunately the roofing guys that will be doing my house don't do gutters too.
What I want to happen. Build a patio in front of my house and knock the wall between the living room and kitchen in my house. Then paint and put in some new floors.

Finishing touches - need to get brushed nickle hinges, drawer pulls and door handles to get rid of the black trimmings, and need to get new towel bars. We also need to install the grip bar & soap/shampoo shelf inside the shower. We started this with friends helping us demolish and remove the old cast iron tub, and install the new jetted tub. Then we all had to self-quarantine. So my hubby did 98% of the rest of it, with me along for the "supervision". I DID help him get that washer/dryer unit up the stairs. That was entertaining.

Flashback to touring that complex in 1974 with an ISU architecture class. To this day I recall my reaction and it was "WTF was Barney Slater thinking?" The Chicago Housing Authority official taking us around was packing a sidearm and telling us stories about how another university group got their vans hit with bricks.
Same trip had us going through some fancy towers along the lake, something Malibu this or that. And another even fancier rich peeps tower. Pretty much covered the extremes of multiple unit housing in Chicago.

Rerocking basement hallway that got all torn up years ago putting in duct runs and plumbing for addition. Maybe at 75%. Also finished framing in basement half bath that was plumbed and half framed 18 years ago.
Two pain in the ass complications:
1. Of course code is changed since and bath is like 1.25" shy of meeting new fixture offset dimension. Gotta shave one of the 2x4 walls down to 2x2.25. Easier to do that than argue with inspector that it's an old grandfathered in layout.
2. Old metal corner bead and some nail heads rusted (installed 25 years ago or so) and bleed though. Grrrr.
