Fran vs Media

Replacing KF will be a defining hire for her. I'm sure she'll knock it out of the park. My concern is that she'll eventually move on to a better AD opportunity. She's young and talented, she's going to have many opportunities.
There's no bigger AD opportunity than being the AD of a Big 10 or SEC school given the state of college athletics. Iowa is in as good of shape as they ever have been imo. Objectively speaking Iowa is a damn good job.

No big deal, I have an uncle who's like you and doesn't think women's sports are "real" sports. He also has a problem with women in positions of leadership. So to be clear you're ok with women leading athletic departments just not trying to play sports?

Seriously what is your problem? He said nothing that would even imply this.

I could see her heading back to somewhere like UNC or Duke if given the chance. Her collegiate roots are there.

There may be a handful of schools not in those conferences who are of that stature. UNC and Duke are probably 2 of them.
She went to Brevard and Clemson and played soccer at both. I could see an opportunity at a blueblood in the Carolinas drawing her back there. Hope not.

That whole family being dickheads isn’t news. That’s like reporting on water being wet. Yeah, we know.

Agreed. If this many people had been treated so ****** by Fran and fam, why did they not speak up during. Did Iowa have that much power over them?

Iowa: Where mediocre administrators go to die.

Always made me curious what JP could do with Big10 money.

All Big 10 and SEC jobs are not created equal. Half of the Big 10 is a better job than Iowa for an AD.

At some point, the schools who have a ton of money just by virtue of being legacy SEC and Big 10 members, or 2010 era cable additions, are going to be forced into a reduced share of revenue and those jobs (while still among the better jobs in college sports) will be tougher than they are today.

Iowa's still a pretty good job, but it's by no means the mountain top.

Agreed but the point is that just being in the Big 10 is a huge advantage.

Agree. Unequal revenue sharing is coming to P2 as long as player compensation isn’t capped. The biggest brands gave up a lot of their advantage in the change to player compensation with transfer portal. Plus CFP. Unequal revenue sharing is a way to recoup some of that brand advantage

Nearly all P5 jobs were “do not screw up” types- riding the inflationary TV rights to more revenue in the equal revenue sharing era. Captive market that were inherently still growing based on living alumni increase. Even more true in BIG & SEC. Basically came down to hiring, which even for those good at it, a crapshoot.

In the last decade, ADs have started to need to navigate disruption.

Probably true. I don't know that we lose BG to any of those though, my hunch is that she'll head back the Carolinas if/when given the chance. Can't see her heading out west but I'm sure if a USC came calling she'd have a hard time turning that down.
