Football Optimism Moving Forward

I know the defensive injuries put a ton of pressure on the offense to be more productive. I think if healthy we roll into Cincinnati and win. The loss of both starting corners absolutely killed us because they could be left to cover their guy without as much help.
agree. With Jontez and Cooper we are probably 10-2 or 11-1.

I think what you are saying is if we weren't AS injured, we beat Cincy; and I agree. Injuries are part and parcel of football. Very few teams roll through an entire season without injured starters. That being the case, I think without as many injuries, we roll Colorado, also.

Now, having said that, I'm hopeful that the new staff addresses training so fewer injuries happen. I can't help but thinking that many of the injuries (and there were way too many) was on the staff. It's the same injury "epidemic" that the SF 49ers have; and I think that's on their staff, also.

From the article someone posted on this site concerning Coach Rogers: "When fall camp began, Rogers went live with quarterback reps during practice – an insane risk – so coaches could properly evaluate the QB position. How did that go? The staff started Jaxon Potter, a talented thrower, but one totally ill-suited to run an offense with a shaky offensive line that needed a mobile quarterback."

I heard some older ex NFL players suggesting that the injury rash is because of the lack of contact in practice. There might be something to it.

I'm excited to see what Rogers can do. Hopefully he can keep most of the better guys in Ames. If not, he clearly knows how to steal guys in the portal. Seems like he is going to be a run first guy, which works well for ISU. Again, there is a lot of wait and see before we will know what next year looks like. He was able to get 70 guys in the portal last year with 1/4 the money he will have at isu.

I’m hopeful about all of them at the game tonight.

I think Rocco is a great college qb that won’t project at the top of a draft. He’s gonna get a NFL spot, but to start it will be because he’s a solid, smart, locker room guy, who’s probably also gonna end up coaching. He’ll get a shot to develop into an NFL starter, no doubt. And he might over achieve like Brock.

That said, I think he’s got a great family & a dad who can help him navigate all of this as well. Finishing out here & being a stable, ‘company guy’ might mean more to NFL teams than going elsewhere for a check.

I also think Roger’s is a CMC type coach, so the transition won’t be too hard to make. Getting an OC he knows probably helps as well.

I’m gonna think nothing but positive thoughts until we know differently.
When did this racist piece of $hit @xr4ticlone come back to CF?

Great thread! Thanks OP.
I can only wonder. Who came here SOLEY because of CMC and staff?
Maybe we are "established enough" that the program itself carries credible weight, no matter the CEO and staff.
Aside, some of these Iowa kids came here cuz they have been Cyclone fans since birth (note the highly regarded oline dude who recently signed on).
As well. If a clone is gonna follow CMC to PSU, he best study up, re: playing time.
Not a great season for PSU, yet there's a lotta talent.
Sit at Happy Valley, or see playing time at Trice?

I'd like to add that it's "it's", not "its." ;)
"It's" isn't the name of the football coach. We should get that right.
I still see Squawkeye fans misspell Ferentz name...Farantz, Ferantz. He's been there in some capacity for almost 45 years!
Hell, we're still misspelling Coach Rhoads name.

The Michigan opening makes me feel infinitely better about the last week. I think there’s zero shot we hold on to CMC from both PSU AND UM. Add in that I’m loving everything I’m hearing about Rogers and staff, I’m in a good spot
I'm in a better spot too...in regards to the football team...
...CMC can lose every game for awhile though as far as I'm concerned. Except Iowa. Let him have some regrets. ( He probably won't.)

You must have erased the ND bowl game from memory. The was a total mismatch.
Tough to watch, namely the big ND receiver (name forgotten - NFL fail), who made our secondary look like hs kids.

"Full stop," says Millen Montilovic.

I still can’t say his name. I just tell “Mommy” bc I was blending his name is Julius Michalik.
