I am fairly indifferent but after seeing how Rasetter handled the Iowa opening I am not excited to do that in Ames.

Lots of stuff is CYA with "to my knowledge...", but I thought these snippets were interesting.

One would think that a president crashing the plane you are responsible for MAY trigger an email regardless of the cost to fix. I'm kinda funny about not surprising my boss that way!

I'm pretty sure he could have taken flying lessons for way less than $250,000+. But then it would have came out of his pocket instead of regular people paying for it. I guess he is good at raising money, but I wish he had a stronger personal ethics.

Good link. Lots of good information and actual quotes from people who know what they are talking about it. My perspective is that Leath brought some trouble on himself by some of his choices. However, I'm not fundamentally against him using an institutional plane for university business that also has some personal benefits. There is great value to having a president who can make drop in's on donors and consultants as needed. And it shouldn't surprise us that he has good connections in North Carolina. That is where he sharpened his craft regarding the development of the research park which has already been a great success in Ames.

I didn't see anyone post this but on the news tonight they said President Leath donated more money to Iowa State to cover the plane damage and said he will no longer fly the planes himself.
