Going for a week. Staying in Key West. Have a couple of unplanned days. Any great experiences you would be willing to share?

Some of my favorite establishments in Key West:

Food and Drinks: Schooner Warf Bar, Hogfish Bar and Grille, Salute on the Beach, Geiger Key Marina (if you have a car as it's about a 10 min drive)

Drinks only: Irish Kevins, Captian Tony's, Hogs Breath, Hurricane Hole

Dinner: El Sibonay, Blue Heaven

Breakfast/Brunch: Banana Cafe

I haven't been to Key West since 1969, do they still serve Key Lime pie?

Get a Key Lime Martini at White Tarpon

We liked Green Parrot for drinks, live music, and free popcorn.

Try the Lobster pizza at the Seaside Cafe at the Mansion, right next to the southernmost point buoy. I tried the conch fritters and Key Lime pie at every single place that had them.
Was never a big fan of key lime pie until I went to the Keys.

Feeding the Tarpon at Robbie’s in Islamorada is fun if you’re passing by.

Lobster pizza seemed like a tourist trap, but we tried it anyways and it was super good. Would also recommend that

Go to Tortugas for fishing unbelievable. Fishing in general down there is great everywhere.

Lots of live music on Duvall St along with plenty of tasty beverages.

We really liked the vibe of the Chart Room (Buffet frequented it early in his career and played for drinks).

Plenty of great places to eat…..especially seafood.

I would say our favorite place to eat (with the best food) was the Conch Republic, although most places other places were pretty good too.

Watch the sunset from Mallory Square. Get there fairly early as it can get crowded.

Depending on traffic (ahead of weekends and holidays) the drive down from MIA can take awhile but is worth it - plan on taking longer and explore some of the offshoots and activities along the way. Helps break it up.

Don’t know what airline you are flying into MIA, or if you have been through there before. What I will say is that it is, quite possibly, one of the worst (if not the worst) airports to fly into (out of isn’t much better). Multiple levels, going up and down, things aren’t well marked, and the American Airlines app was mostly useless. It was a minor miracle and mostly blind luck that we got our bags. This after walking about a mile to get there to begin with.

Good luck and enjoy!

Don't know when you will be there, but the Conch Republic Independence Celebration has always been on my bucket list.

Hit up the top floor of The Bull for some sightseeing.

I swear I've had the best cheesesteaks of my life at Mr. Z's, granted I was never close to sober when I got them.

Friends that like coffee really liked Cuban Coffee Queen.

Blue Heaven for breakfast, Grand Cafe Key West is great dinner food, Irish Kevin's for drink's and music.

Enough said... AA is the worst major airline to fly.

Tortugas(seaplane only), moped around KW, John Pennekamp state park, Robbie's, Islamorada Brewery, Hemingway Home, Mallory Square for sunset, fishing out of Islamorada, live music, and just spend a evening jumping around to different bars to listen to music.
