Feb 22 Rankings Update

NCAAs is weighing heavily. He went 1-2 last year, and most sources take NCAAs as a starting point to the season ranking. So, by going 1-2 Parker would have started the season ranked just inside the top 20.

Then, as Buf mentioned he has not wrestled any opponents this year that would have allowed him to move up. We’ve seen how good a peak Parker can be, and that is definitely AA level. Really hard to tell if he’s there or not this year.
He was dinged up pretty good at ncaa's last year right? Knee?

Big 12s will be a great test for Parker. If he can find a way to win, I think he has a shot at a top 5 seed in Detroit

I've been a huge Parker fan for so long. His match in Hilton several years ago when he beat Demas got me starting to be back more interested Cyclone wrestling. Awesome moment and match. I really hope that this next month is when it finally all comes together for him. God knows he's worked hard enough for it.

Intermat has the best rankings anymore. atleast in my opinion. I think Earl Smith does them for intermat, he does a good job. Flo has really fallen off, they had the best rankings for awhile there.

I’m a huge fan of Parker’s grittiness. I worry a bit that it gets harder to win with that style at the NCAA tournament, but here’s to hoping he gets it done this year with a high finish.

Not hard to see why this is such a good dual team.

Tournament team looking better all the time. Can’t wait for the next two events.
The best part is we should improve at 6 weights next year. 125, 133, 165, 174, 197, hwt. 133 let’s see what Noonan has. 174 Rojas or Broderson/Devine improve. 165 Carr. 184 should be similar for Coleman.

A champ plus 3 other AAs would be a great start. Add in a couple more in medal contention (Degen, KT and Sam optimistically project as R16, maybe blood round guys) and some surprise/bonus points, and all of a sudden we're sneaking around the chicken coop for some hardware. Realistically your low AA seeds need to move up on the podium, and you need a couple R16/blood round guys to sneak into low AA position to get there.

The top 2 seem pretty well set, and Michigan probably looks pretty solid with Suriano now in the fold. If however as others have stated, we can stay healthy and keep working toward peaking at the right time a top 5 finish doesn't seem like as big of a stretch as it did at the beginning of the season. Top 7-10 is probably more realistic, but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised for the first time in quite a while.
In reality the biggest difference maker is picking up pins on the backside. A guy can grind out some 1 or 2 point wins on the backside and only score 2 or 3 team points if they only get R16 or R12. A couple pins on the backside makes the difference between team 13 and team 5 or 6. We need Degen, Coleman and Bastida to be those bonus point guys.

A lot of us have complained about him not getting majors while racking up 3 minutes of riding time but that ability to ride could be big for him in March. He can slow the match down against a high paced guy and a 40 second ride out after a late period/match td could make all the difference.
