Refs were ass and bailed Iowa out a few times, but we still pulled off an ugly win!
With Ferentz a win away from the record, I was afraid of any close calls bouncing their way
We have got to stop the whole visiting teams refs doing games. Do what we do with bowl games.
Not their best outing ever. Unfortunately not their worst ever, either...

I was drinking and at a bar so I didn't get a clear replay or view, should it have been a fair catch interference? Seems like that was the point in the game where Iowa State would have driven down and gone up big.
Yeah, I've watched that "muffed" punt many times. I can't see that the ball EVER changed it's spin from hitting us. That was a complete gift to the Squakeyes.
Even if it so slightly grazed the ISU players wrist...it certainly look like the Hawkeye went right into the returner...and wasn't blocked into him.
Worst was the holding penalty on the punt return they decided not to make the yards off on.
now that conferences pay their own refs and probably pay them more or less based on how much money a particular conference makes, there is a conflict of interest. Games like this one should have 3rd party reffing.
I think the iSU coaches declined it. Was it prekick and if accepted would have been 5 yards and a rekick of the punt?
No. Ref announced it was half the distance to the goal line.
No. Wetjen went backwards further than what the penalty would have been. It wouldn’t be enforced from the end of the return, it would have been enforced from the end of the kick.
He caught it at the 8, went backwards to the 5. With that it should have been at the 4.
