Ex-Clones at other schools

Totally forgot that Carston Marshall transferred. He might have actually played more this year IMO. We could use some LB depth.

His leaving might have been tied to the gambling issues. The Boise website states that he is on suspension pending an issue (undefined by them) related to his time when he was at ISU. He played very little last year and is still on suspension apparently.
Yeah, I think his name did come up in the gambling probe, which is odd, because he and Noel were very close (roomed together, I believe, and started a Youtube vlog together). Odd because Noel didn't get caught up in the gambling thing, but Brown did.

A twitter post from March 11th says:

"Boise State DT Howard Brown remains on the roster, but he is not on the field for today’s first practice… Brown was ineligible last season due to an NCAA investigation into his conduct when at Iowa State… Brown is “working through eligibility issues,” per spokesperson."

A twitter post from June 8th:

"It looks like DT Howard Brown is no longer on BSU roster"

Seriously? LB is one of our deepest positions. There's 8-9 guys there who could see the field and that's not including Willich, who's out for the year.
And not a single one of them is a senior this year. I think that group will be decent this year now that a lot of them have at least a year of experience.

That list is disturbingly long. But I guess that is what college football is like these days.
What’s disturbing about it, is only 4 of those guys transferred to other high major schools. That means almost all of them weren’t the caliber of recruit needed at a high major program.

Probably need to go back and see who else offered all of them out of high school. Were we reaching or was everyone else thinking they were going to be better than what they ended up

Either that, or it means that every year there is an immense crowd in the Portal—especially with COVID years. One of the two.

If you want to see ex-Cyclones at other major schools, that only means our best players are being poached.

Let @brentblum cook.

was Craig McDonald an NIL transfer? thought he had so much potential, but went to Minnesota and only recorded his only 2 tackles in a blowout 40 pt loss to Michigan. Seemed like a real difference maker for us.

I feel I remember he ruffled a lot of feathers transferring the way he did. He would have had a chance to start but Auburn offered some money. I don't think we had WeWill up and running yet.

that's right, McDonald was supposed to go to Auburn, wonder how he ended up in Minnesota. I don't see any stats at all at Aubrun

Good Lord Craig smfh ....

2021 ISU: played in all 13 games, 3 starts, 41 tackles, 2 INTs (10 tackles & INT vs OU). 2x Big 12 academic honors
2022 Auburn: saw action in 2 games, no stats recorded
2023 Minnesota: 2 tackles on the season, both in scrub time in a 40 pt blowout loss to Michigan
