Euro 2020

UEFA saying the Denmark match to be continued tonight. That’s a really bad call IMO. If that’s the case, then you have to think they’re going to go on with the Belgium match as well.

I would hope that they had to base that decision on feedback during the crisis meetings with the teams. There's no way this game continues today without buy off from the Denmark players and managers. Hopefully that means that the players are comfortable with the status of Erekson.

It sounds like it was based on what the players wanted. But that's still a difficult call

I'm thinking he did not have a pulse on the pitch and needed to spend immediate time getting him back alive.

Yeah I was thinking they can do everything they were doing on the field on the back of a cart or ambo but maybe not.

Gotta think the 4 minutes then short half will help. These first 4 minutes will be tough for the teams, but maybe after half they'll be able to come out and focus on the game. So often when athletes experience grief they comment about getting back to playing helps with that.

I'm trying to think how other sports would handle this scenario. I feel like football and hockey would just continue like normal?

It looked like he went into cardiac arrest, which has a low survival rate even if it happens in a hospital. If that is what happened he’s lucky to be alive.

I think playing it was an ok call after he was awake and doing well. Let everyone regroup and get going. I’m sure the players said let’s play now that he is ok.

Glad Christian is alive. As a Spurs fan I was in tears watching that.

I can't believe they finished the match today, Denmark didn't look sharp at all and probably rightfully so.

I think playing that match was the wrong call even if the players said they wanted to. Danish players were visibly emotional, even some tears, as they were warming up to resume play.

Also, it sucks for Finland, who have never qualified for a major international tournament before, to kind of have the joy of their first ever win overshadowed by what will now be discussions over whether that match should have been resumed today.

You’ve gotta love Lukaku running to the camera after he scores Belgium’s first to give Eriksen the “Love you!” shoutout for his Inter teammate.

plus hojbjerg missing the pen. Finland winning with 1 shot the whole game is a stat that make soccer great/suck

Guys, it’s football. **** happens. I saw Aaron Ramsey’s leg bone sticking out of his leg so far with his skin and muscle flapping in the wind behind it. They finished the match.

NFL: A player breaks his leg. Commentators "So-and-so appears to have suffered a major leg injury. It's too graphic for us to show out of respect."

UEFA: As a player is literally dying on the field. "Zoom in on that. Let's get a reaction from his wife too".

Not as easy. When we have to do heavy shocks, we stop the ambulance and shock while still don’t want bumps or anything weird interfering with the procedure. It can mess up monitors and other equipment.

So Eriksens career is likely over, right?

I'd think so unless they can find a for sure cause and can treat it. That can be tricky sometimes.

I know there's a lot of money at stake, but that'd get me to walk away from any contract.
