Ernst

I thought the same thing about McKay and Hogue. Was Prohm trying to recruit Ernst back to ISU? If not, I sure hope he has someone just as good or better in mind because we will be keeping our eye on how Ernst does at Xavier.
Thought we'd have Malou and Lard, and since this is 100% prognostication thread, Lard has more potential than any big we've signed under Prohm. Young second best. You can argue Kasongo, Carter, Ernst against each other, but in reality all 3 most likely don't play much unless we miss hard on our last 3 scholarships.

When freshman Solomon Young looks much better than Bowie and Holden, I think Ernst might have brought something to the table. Carter is MIA. Lard was a straggler. We may win without a front court. In defense of Bowie who misses free throws and Holden who fouls, they are not built to be center material. They are thin forwards.

Right or wrong Prohm evaluated his class in the spring and thought that Holden, Bowie, Solomon and Carter (and Burton) would be the best combo in the post for the team and likely relayed that to Ernst. I am not sure why everyone thinks a staff that watched all these guys play for over a year together are a better evaluators of talent than the Coach. Especially because Prohm is the one that would be deciding on rotation minutes.

I hope Ernst succeeds at X, other than this now I will have to see this thread every time he scores 10 points. Ernst wasn't likely to play for Prohm and will get a better chance at minutes now. If Brady was still on the roster today he'd be sitting right now too and many would be upset that he didn't transfer out and taking a scholarship from getting a different post player.

The same way Jackson does, right?

You continually miss so badly on Ernst and our big men that you could be Prohm.

How in the world am I missing on Ernst? I said I don't think he's any better than Holden considering we pushed him out to pursue Holden and Bowie.

What production would Ernst need to have at Xavier for people to think we made a mistake?

I think people would be all over the place with that answer.
Depends on how good Xavier is too, if he averages 7-8 and 5-6 on a top 25 team, that'd probably be enough to show he could get minutes here. That is what Bowie is averaging right now.

Welp, I remember when we were recruiting Sean O'Mara (6'10 F/C) out of HS and he ended up choosing Xavier over ISU. averaging 6 points as a Junior. Guess, we shoulda got him too, him being 6'10 and all

We would all take that

Well Holden and Carter have proven to be virtually unplayable, so any production from Ernst would be a net positive. It is just a really, really low bar.

It is a low bar, but what reason do we have that Ernst would meet that standard this year? Personally, I don't think he'd be playing over Holden this year in any case. So basically this will be a Kasongo/Carter vs Ernst debate the next two years.
Prohm seems to want an athletic rim runner type posts which didn't appear to be Brady's game style to me in the few highlight videos and minutes I've seen of him.

You seem like the type that was thrilled when we got Ernst. Maybe I should look that up

I'm not defending it either way. I'm just saying the bar is so low, whats the point?
