Yeah I would seriously doubt Malou has the academic requirements to go to college in the US right now, and it isn't the kids fault. Pretty sad.
Don't worry. None of the players were put into any bad light. They were looked at as victims more than anything.
I'd say if Malou is going to play college ball he'll have to get his GED and go JUCO. I hear Indian Hills is a nice basketball school.
Prep schools seem like a terrible outgrowth for some basketball players. They only started up do to the NCAA regulations so again I am going to blame all of this on the NCAA. We already saw what happened with a certain player and a shady prep school in a town known for its gambling.
Hey now, Findlay prep is a fine academic institution. It is totally normal to have a school who's only students are the basketball team. And who doesn't actually have a physical school. And who take classes at a nearby private elementary school. And happens to be fully funded by a major booster for the local D1 men's hoops program. What the hell would make anyone think that is a little shady?
Watched the WHO TV special and feel really bad for these kids. It said that ISU was no longer pursuing him because the necessary paperwork was not filled out for him to be eligible. I hope that this isn't true and hope for his sake he can land somewhere. They said the the kids that live in the house are being evicted as rent hasn't been paid. What a bad situation as I am sure most of these kids are foreign and getting home may not be that easy.
Last week there was word that Fred attended an ABCD game, so this may not be accurate.
Wasn't getting my hopes with Malou because there wasn't enough information to go off of. I am also not giving up hope that he becomes a Cyclone. Unless WHO/Sonya asked CFH and he said they aren't recruiting him anymore.. Which I doubt happened. In Hines' mailbag just a few days ago he mentioned Malou as an option. This investigation from WHO didn't just pop up in the last few days. They've been working on it for some time, I'd imagine.
They said he is no longer recruited by ISU because he didn't fill out the necessary paperwork. They must be getting that from somewhere. I doubt they just made it up.
They could just be assuming we stopped recruiting him based off the things they found out about the school and coach. I doubt they got Fred or somebody within the program to say they stopped recruiting him.
No one from the coaching staff can say anything to anybody about an unsigned recruit.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they aren't going to make statements of fact based off of assumptions. The news story said it unqualified. I know journalism isn't what it used to be, but I still think they are going to have a source before they make declarations in a news broadcast.
You mean how Hines had a "source" before Vaughn announced that he wasn't coming to ISU. Coaching staffs tip off the media all the time.
All I am saying is you never know until his eligibility is up. Who knows what is going on and if we were ever even recruiting him. Maybe they push him JUCO and he ends up at ISU later than expected. Maybe he gets his current situation figured out and does up end up being a Cyclone? Maybe WHO knows everything and are right? Maybe we were never even recruiting him?
