I say the UAB Oline coach. The development I’ve seen from a couple of their linemen has been impressive. If he wants to move up, that would be my choice.Or hire their O-line coach??

I’m happy with Green and our defense, aren’t you?Same premise worked for basketball
Do regular walk ons lift with the team and do other functions. Daughter was saying a couple were claiming preferred status but they lifted at state gym/lied and say their own PT people. Preferred ones I knew of were like scholly ones, just had to pay their way.High School Preferred Walkon - The Preferred Walkon just means he will be at training camp.
Regular non-preferred walkons start with the team on the first day of classes.

What I thought. I think these kids may have tried out and didn’t make it and are still claiming they are walk ons.I was a regular walkon at first. We got to do everything preferreds and scholarships did except we had to start on the first day of school. So yes we got to lift, use the trainers and eat with the team.
Unless you’re only hiring former players, that’s how you make tree. Where else would coaches come from from within the tree?Matt Campbell has hired so many guys outside his tree.
Basketball players who know how to screen out on rebounds already know how to apply the principles.A lineman who through wrestling understands leverage? We should take every single one of those kids we can get out hands on.
Basketball players are great for pass protection, especially left tackles. Good at moving feet and hips; have to stay between you and the basket/quarterback. What a lot of pass protection is.Basketball players who know how to screen out on rebounds already know how to apply the principles.

I agree, Iowa has hit on so many of these types.
Underwood senior offensive lineman Easton Eledge helped lead Underwood to the Class 1A quarterfinals and a 10-1 record this past season. His blocking help spur the Eagles offensive attack, which passed for 2,498 yards and rushed for 2,715 yards. ...
“Every school has good things about them,” he said. “Iowa State just had so many benefits that it was hard to pass up. They have great academic help. Their lifting plans, their nutrition plans, just everything, it was just a step ahead. Everywhere does a great job, but Iowa State did a fantastic job.”
Eledge accepted a preferred walk-on spot at Iowa State earlier this year. ...
Those that work there call it "the Nonpayroll".An article today in the Council Bluffs Nonpareil

The article talks about a lot of things, including more about the process of how he received his preferred walk-on offer, more than what I quoted below.
Also, in wrestling, post-sectionals, pre-districts, Eledge is ranked 7th in the state:

IAWrestle Rankings (2/8): Lo-Ma's Reisz new No. 1 at 1A-113
Logan-Magnolia 113-pounder Corbin Reisz is the new top-ranked wrestler in Class 1A's IAWrestle rankings.www.kmaland.com
Wrestling fans also note at that link, and of course, tentative based on district results, but in a match I highlighted on the wrestling board (in the "Super Noob" thread), between then #1 Eli Becerra of Missouri Valley, a sophomore, and then #8 Corbin Reisz of Logan-Magnolia, a freshman -- after the sectional results between the two -- Reisz is now ranked #1 and Becerra is ranked 2nd.
Of course, based on their rankings, they will probably meet again at districts.
That might be a great idea!Or hire their O-line coach??
