Pimp my ride was awesome
Minus the fact that the cars were still POS when they finished. They didn't do any real work on the actual issues and just add to the issues with all the added weight. That said I watched it religiously as a kid.

Holy crap, I think I watched that whole season and hadn't thought about it for a second until this post.

I just remember watching it thinking these dorks are going to get someone killed while they do their role play.
Yeah, that had train wreck written all over it, didn’t it!

Never heard of it, I see it's on Prime so I guess I better give it a view.

I liked the reality shows before reality tv. Things like Junkyard Wars, the extreme garage makeover show in the early 2000s, and the very early days of Trading Spaces. Anything beyond that is trash in my opinion.

Reality shows are a cheap cover for the lack of good writing and originality in Hollywood

They cost a lot less than scripted shows and people still watch them.

We are coming out of possibly the golden age of TV.

I am intrigued by the FOX gameshow (I think it's called The Grid maybe) where players compete in a trivia contest for the ground won on the floor by other contestants. Like the College Football Empire maps you see every fall. That has potential.
The Floor aired last night. I watched some of it. It's definitely a game show versus a reality show, though. Waaaaay too many commercials in comparison to actual trivia. It was mildly entertaining, but no chance I'd suffer through that without being able to fast forward.

It shouldn't surprise me, but, outside of Jeopardy and Masterminds, it's amazing how stupid some contestants on game shows are.

Those final questions on Masterminds can be real killers
