Dry January

Gray area … I did edibles so I say THC drinks are ok.
If you’re trying to go substance free then yes I agree but if you’re just trying to limit alcohol, limiting adding poison to your body, breaking your unhealthy habits, or trying to be healthier in general I would say it counts.

I’m also biased as a big THC advocate but one is poison and the other has almost zero negitive side effects for adults when used responsibly

Edibles are mostly dry. THC drinks are wet, therefore, not dry.

To be honest, when used responsibly, the both have almost zero negative side effect. I guess alcohol, by nature, has carbs. But I don't think there's a huge supply of sugar free edibles. Maybe we should make THC beef jerky.

is legit a poison to your body, so in addition to the additional calories it does actually harm many systems in the body.
Alcohol is a legit poison to your body so in addition to the extra empty calories you are actually causing harm to most systems in your body. That’s without pointing out the horrible decisions people tend to make even drinking responsibly.

Is that harm potentially minimal if consumed responsibly, sure I agree with that but I wouldn’t call it harmless.

I'll agree with most of this statement except that people don't usually make horrible decisions because they are drinking responsibly. They make horrible decisions when they are drinking responsibly because they are dum@sses even when they aren't drinking anything. I'm a perfect example of this.

Doctors and medical professionals have a weird comfort with death.

My doctor cousin is very casual with it. "When do you perform CPR?" "First I wait for you to die" type of stuff.

Another doc says "when you get prostate cancer". WTF? Don't ******* throw out the C word like you're super sizing your fry order.

Death is kind of a big deal to most of us. Read the room a little
Death is such an odd thing to be afraid of. So many people spend time worrying about death that they don't live.

Isn't there some research out there that THC can mess with sleep? Like yeah you can fall asleep but harder to get to the really beneficial deep sleep? I could be misremembering. It's certainly healthier than alcohol.

My dad has done everything right. His worst vice he has is having ONE beer most nights to take the edge off after work. Never smoked. Runs 5 times a week his whole life. Bikes to work as well when not winter time.

Guess what? he had emergency open heart surgery in September. He's 58. You can't control everything. Even if he never drank that still would have happened because of genetics. Control what you can, enjoy life, everything in moderation, and go to the doctor

There are some issues with THC and dreams for sure. One of the problems is that with THC being a schedule 1 drug there are very few actual good studies being done of its effects. That’s why there are so many claims both positive and negitive about it

I did cheat 2 days as I was in Okoboji for Winter Games but otherwise was good.

Observations:

No weight loss/gain (5’11 190)
Sleep was terrible
Body doesnt feel different
I dont hate NA beers

I think going forward I will continue to drink NA beers to help me cut back on alcohol.

I think this is my 4th or 5th consecutive dry January. I am planning to end it this evening, so a few hours before Feb 1st....but close enough. It's not bad at all and it just feels like a nice reset to start the year.
Wife and I are on our 4th consecutive Dry January, we somewhat actually look forward to the "challenge" of it now.

Going for #5-6? I had a successful run last year from New Year's to St Paddy's Day. I also stuck to zero sugar sodas. Now I'm cutting out sugary Starbucks/Scooters as well. That may actually be tougher for me. This will be my 3rd round of self control. Who's with me?
