Drone Show

Wish they would have turned the lights off and had them perform over the field.
If we had some new LED lights that could do a show of their own that would be cool. Red lights on the team entrance. Our old lights take some time to warm up lol.

On the coaches show last Tuesday Pollard was commenting on how good West Virginia's drone show was and he was like "I didn't know they could be 3D, I hope ours is that good" lol. So I assume he was a bit disappointed as well.

It was fine, but I had a hard time caring too much with the way the half ended. I had seen one before so it wasn't a new experience for me.

Kind of disrespectful to the band imo. Some band members said that they could hear the "fans" reacting to the drone show & thought they had made a mistake in their routines.

It would have been nice to coordinate the band & drone show together. The Wizard of Oz music from a few weeks would have been great with a drone/cyclone, etc....
Same here. Seems as though the importance of the band is being phased out in favor of new tech and blasting music from the speakers. Not a fan of less band.
And I was frustrated that the band and some show were not coordinated. Can’t watch either without being distracted by the other.

Echoing all of the others who couldn't see it - the placement was impossible to get for everyone, but pretty much everyone in the NE corner couldn't see it.

Agreed that it was unfortunate that it was timed with the band show. Would likely have been better to do after the band was done. But I am glad we tried something new, not everything is perfect - learning opportunity.

They did rotate the helmet a bit but I think that was the only one, so based on his comments probably disappointing on that end

We are in the NW corner and could see them getting ready. I was really expecting them to come in closer eventually. It had the feel of watching somebody else's fireworks show.

It was cool and since I'm over 40, I took pictures :jimlad:

I assume the drone show was an paid ad for by AER Lingus? I also expected more animation.

It was cool, but it almost seemed like just lights on a big video board. I didn’t get a sense that each light represented a separate drone flying around. Made me wonder what it would be like before dark. Frankly, it’s the positioning of the drones that was the most cool to me, not the lights or the shapes they made.

I was disappointed in it. It is really cool overall and I feel better than fireworks imo but this fell flat. As others mentioned it was while the band played, poor placement and really no acknowledgement of it starting/happening. And the advertisement for Ireland.

If anyone went to the Balloon Classic this summer... you know how much better it could have been. That show was great.

Bahaha, "disrespectful to the band?" Try playing some music from cartoons/tv shows this side of 1950 and you might get a reaction. You knew the drones were going to be happening, do some coordination.

It is quite difficult to have coordination with under 2 weeks of preparation. The band shows are finalized in June/July for the season

Watched about the first two things and then just watched the band. I thought ok, lights in sky spelling crap, but husband was mesmerized. Maybe we’ll go with three ring circus next halftime.

Kind of reminded me of a Lite Brite toy

Things like this and all the bball half time entertainment... my first thought is always how much does that cost. I'm sure I would be very surprised.
