We are allowed more scholarships. So basically we can take a flyer . Not to mention foreign players don’t get NIL their first year until they get a green card to work. I think that’s the rule
This is more than a flyer I think...or am I understanding this guy's resume wrong?

I hope a couple of the freshman earn minutes and are hard to keep off the floor.
For sure. The roster has a lot of talent again next year. I just think in this era you want to stay as old as possible. Relying on young players to be major contributors in scoring is sketchy with all the teams being old because of mid major transfers moving up

What’s his eligibility situation? Full four years available? Not that years of eligibility means what it used to mean anymore.

My guess is the starting 5 is
Lipsey
Transfer guard
Milan
Jefferson
Jackson

We should hope we don’t have to rely on a freshman to be a starter. They can be contributors but I think they need to go get another shooter like CuJo

I don’t like speculating on transfers but I don’t see Fish and Watson being on the roster. So we could have an open spot to go get a guy
Nailed it, except I think that shooter is already on the team. Nojus is my pick for that 2nd guard spot. Heise and Batemon will compete for it as well. The biggest question mark will be how well they play defense.

Rock, Watson and Pleta will compete for Chatfield minutes. Obviously all 3 of those dudes are not Chatfield but they'd each bring something different. Consistent rebounding and defense wins minutes.

If there is an extra roster spot it'll be very interesting to see if we go after an older big or a guard like CuJo.

What's the flyer part here? Isn't one.

If Rock stays its because he can be next years Chatfield, otherwise he should transfer down. If Jones is not back the big need will be more shooting and ball handling. They are losing a lot of scoring and can never have enough 3pt shooters as we saw with Mom out

That is 100 percent not true on the NIL front. And Iowa State is not planning on increasing scholarships. Any increase in a men’s scholarship requires an increase on a women’s scholarship. Iowa State needs as much funding as possible to help with revenue sharing and won’t be increasing scholarships as those cost money.
There are not two scholarships in other men’s sports to cut to offset?

This is the time to put all the chips into the revenue sports.

He looks like an athletic guy with good footwork in those clips. Playing in the 2nd tier of German basketball is more than adequate preparation. From his stats, he can't shoot the 3 very well though which will limit where he can play, assuming he does indeed show up in Ames.

Just not sold on Pleta being an instant impact guy. I guess only time will tell.
Should be better prepared than Omaha Biliew.

By the way, Omaha did get 14 minutes of play with Wake Forest last night. 0-2 and 2 rebounds. Not in the game during the last 10 minutes of a close loss at home to Florida State.

Like his game a lot, but at 6'10" and 215, the first thing they'll need to do is get him into the weight room and try to add a little more muscle to that frame.
