Possibly. Not sure how anyone could say with confidence that he'll be ready for a huge role. Not good enough for minutes this year.
Next year, without Gilbert & Jones, might be different.

The discussion has been about next year. Not many had confidence in Matt Thomas or Naz early on either.Buddy, the question was why don't we have confidence in him. We haven't seen anything from him, how could you have confidence
You haven't seen him play at all? That's weird, I've seen him play probably 6-8 games this year.Buddy, the question was why don't we have confidence in him. We haven't seen anything from him, how could you have confidence.
LOL. A total of 40 min against non-slappies and you can project his career. That's impressive. You haven't seen him play at all? That's weird, I've seen him play probably 6-8 games this year.
He's a remarkably good-looking young person for having those parents. If Julius Michalik, Juri Hubalek, and Jackson Vroman had a love child it would be Dominykas.
His shooting stats don't indicate the "stretch" part. He shoots low volume at under 30% from 3.They're very different. Lucca was a 6'5" 3 point specialist. This kid is a 6'9" stretch 4.

I think the frosh are interesting. You're right about who they are playing behind but also, we've never seen a freshman sit the bench for TJ and then play as a soph, pretty sure Fish would be the only one in that category who even stuck around. It's a small sample size but its been all or nothing with them for TJ, feels like Nojus and Rock will buck that trend but they will be the first.Yeah kind of hard when u are a freshman behind three all conference players who are juniors and seniors
Welcome to Ames Iowa Dom! Pardon if I shorten your name.Let's go. 6'9 Kid from Germany. Already 20 years old and has played on some good German teams.

Nächster Wechsel aus der BBL in die NCAA: Meines Wissens spielt Ludwigsburgs Dominykas Pleta ab Sommer für Iowa State. Dominykas Pleta has given his commitment to play for Iowa State next season. #Cyclones #C5Cbsky.app
Dirk Nowitzski light? I'd take that. They're very different. Lucca was a 6'5" 3 point specialist. This kid is a 6'9" stretch 4.
It’s a new era. Imagine it’s a bit easier sell if you’re going to FF/NC, so let’s see where this season ends up.I think the frosh are interesting. Saw a post that indicated sophomore. Is he about to be a 21 year old freshman?
I think Milan needs to add some strength so he can post up and use his fade away. Otherwise, he's a wing who can hit a 3 when open, somewhat like Korver.I think the shopping list for the portal is pretty easy.
No more Gilbert --> need a secondary PG to spell Tamin
No more Jones (and maybe Milan to the NBA?) --> need shooting... gotta be a stud SG or wing out the who can shoot and score who isn't as much about the $$$ and just wants to win
No more Chat --> need a backup big man... shouldn't be too hard to find a big body from one of those low-major West Coast conference TJ likes to watch at night that should be in our price range
Batemon is the only one of the 5 I'd bank on hitting many jumpers, at least early. I do think he's an extremely high level bucket getter and shooter though, so at least the 1 is a really really good one. That’s as likely to be a poor shooting team as it is one that is “loaded” with people that can shoot (make) 3Ps
We need more than Milan. Particularly if Milan is not a plus in defense and rebounding
Is Tamin a sure plus shooter ? Is Heise? Maybe
Is Jefferson? He’s at 28% this year
Is Watson? Not yet
Jackson isn’t. Pleta isn’t supposed to be.
That leaves the freshmen. Some may be acclaimed as such from high school performance, but even Milan, a legitimately talented shooter, shot under 30% in conference play as a freshman
Nojus is stuck behind 3 elite guards, Milan and a 5th year guy who isn't great but can play defense. There's only 200 minutes to give out and the first 4 take up 120 at least.Because he's played 4 years of d-1 basketball. I'd be very surprised if he's given another year.
I'm curious why there isn't more confidence in Nojus. He's got great size, has demonstrated he can handle the ball (as an off-guard or 3), and was highly recruited, based partly on being a very good shooter. I know he hasn't lit it up in games this season, but it's tough to have rhythm playing the final 2 minutes after a blowout. I do think he'll need to get better defensively, but I think he'll be ready to contribute offensively.
I wouldn't group Mitchell with those other three. He can shoot.Batemon is the only one of the 5 I'd bank on hitting many jumpers, at least early. I do think he's an extremely high level bucket getter and shooter though, so at least the 1 is a really really good one.
Moore, Toure, Pleta, and Mitchell all having "developing" shots is gonna be interesting but the mix of toughness, athleticism, and willingness to get after it defensively is a formula we know fairly well. Hoping one or two of those guys can add it to their game a bit more though.
